As if Teabonics wasn't bad enough, here are two astonishing examples of the cutting edge of Tea Party thought.  The first one is from outgoing Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.), who was defeated by a Tea Party candidate in the primary.  He met with some Tea Party activists at a fund raiser::

I sat down, and they said on the back of your Social Security card, there's a number. That number indicates the bank that bought you when you were born based on a projection of your life's earnings, and you are collateral. We are all collateral for the banks....So they said, "You don't know this?! You are a member of Congress, and you don't know this?!"

The next one if from a Tea Party candidate for governor in Colorado:

Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes is warning voters that Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper's policies, particularly his efforts to boost bike riding, are "converting Denver into a United Nations community."..."This is bigger than it looks like on the surface, and it could threaten our personal freedoms," Maes said...."At first, I thought, 'Gosh, public transportation, what's wrong with that, and what's wrong with people parking their cars and riding their bikes? And what's wrong with incentives for green cars?' But if you do your homework and research, you realize ICLEI is part of a greater strategy to rein in American cities under a United Nations treaty,"

These people don't deserve to be treated as a serious part of our political discourse.  Instead, they should be required to appear in public dressed in clown suits.  They're the American equivalent of Monty Python's Looney Party.

Teh stupid.  It hurts.

Ed

May you live in interesting times.

Ah, I read that wrong at the end.

I thought it read 'Tea stupid'.  No difference, really though...
