O'Donnell declared winner over Castle.

We can thank the tea baggers for the continuing purge within the Republican party, and the likely election of a Democrat to one of Delaware's senatorial offices.

What happens when the voters turn their backs on tea bagger backed candidates in the general election?

Has it happened yet, Herr Kreskin?  For just my benefit, who was the last Republican you voted for?

Dick Thornburg, before he went over to the dark side as Regan's AG.  He was a tough prosecutor in Allegheny County and ran for governor as a reformer.

we vs us

O'Donnell's primary win in Delaware seems to be a tipping point of sorts within the GOP.  For whatever reason, the internal warfare has gone public, and there's all sorts of interesting sniping going on in the news/talk world between the power structure and the Tea Partiers.

All of which is a neatly wrapped gift for the otherwise-struggling Dems.

Gift yes, but not strong enough to grant them advantage.

As anticipated, members of the "old establishment" GOP are being given walking papers.  The new Republican candidates seem to be falling in line with Tea Party agendas and associating themselves with the movement.  These candidates are also picking up a significant independent following.  I think we are seeing the birth of a new Republican party with a single unified mantra of "Smaller Government."

IMO, it represents Republicans shifting to more Libertarian philosophy.  At least I am hopeful that this is where things are going.  The GOP needs to tread lightly.

Dims need to lose the smug attitude. They've made every attempt to marginalize this movement by calling them racist, gun-toting, bible-thumping nut cases.

I really was taken with the headline this morning that O'Donnell's win would assure Democrat victory in Delaware and "end" the GOP dream of re-taking the Senate.

Pretty arrogant stuff. Americans are tired of arrogance and the entitlement mentality the ruling class has. Castle was a great example of this. The Dims aren't immune from this growing sentiment.

I disagree. They don't want less government. They want good roads, military protection, and medicare. They just don't want to pay for it.

I'm almost positive this was said last administration and the administration before that, etc etc.   "second verse, same as the first"

Sorry. I can't help but smile to see the republican party imploding. Call me smug all you want.

Imploding? By any gauge, it's the dems that are imploding. How many dem incumbents are begging to stand next to Obama at a campaign stomp or are running on their voting record?

Typical response.

Republicans don't campaign against their opponent, they campaign against Obama.

Yes, and the funny thing is many Democrats are campaigning against him too.   :D

I seem to remember during the last couple of elections the Democrats campaigned firmly against some Bush guy rather than even addressing many of the issues.  I may be mistaken.  :o
