Did we really think that electing all these alleged 'small-government' conservatives and tea-partiers was going to get promises of eliminating wasteful spending?

Until there is true lobby reform, none of that will happen.  If the big lobbies start threatening career politicians with no more contributions unless their agendas are pushed, I'm not sure if any movement can survive where it should be representing the people.

I now know why the SCOTUS ruled as it did regarding corporations.  I don't think even that institution is immune from the lobbies.

FIFY

Big lobbies need to take a flying leap.  As I said, keep turning the pressure up on these dinosaurs by voting them out every two years until they choke out the lobbyists, PAC's, and SIG's.

another verse same as the first:

QuoteMembers of the Congressional Tea Party Caucus may tout their commitment to cutting government spending now, but they used the 111th Congress to request hundreds of earmarks that, taken cumulatively, added more than $1 billion to the federal budget.

B...b...b...but it's only a billion

and we can add "so far".

I love the way they lie.  Paraphrasing a hot, heavily overproduced singer from the Bahamas.
