North Korea Threatening Nuclear War

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - North Korea warned Monday that U.S.-South Korean cooperation could bring a nuclear war to the region, as the South began artillery drills amid lingering tension nearly three weeks after the North's deadly shelling of a South Korean island.

We were weak on them during the Bush Administration, and we have completely disengaged during this administration.  In fact, Dick Cheney warned Bush, Rice, and ultimately President Obama that North Korea would be a threat.

Now that Clinton is back in charge, perhaps he can defuse this situation before it goes nuclear or "NUCULAR".

North Korea Vows 'Special Actions' to Turn Seoul to 'Ashes'

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/04/north-korea-vows-special-actions-to-turn-seoul-to-ashes/

QuoteSEOUL, South Korea  – North Korea vowed today in an alarming announcement to "soon" reduce parts of South Korea's capital to "ashes" for insulting North Korea's leadership.

Regular programming was interrupted on North Korea's state TV today by a special report declaring that "special actions" will be carried out "soon" and aimed at parts of the South Korean capital Seoul.

It said the military attack will use "unprecedented peculiar means and methods of our own style."

"All will be reduced to  ashes in three to four minutes," and will involve "form of fire."

"The special actions of our revolutionary armed forces will start soon to meet the reckless challenge of the group of traitors," read the statement.

The targets Pyongyang pinpointed are South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak and "the group of rat-like elements including conservative media destroying the mainstay of the fair public opinion."

Analyst in Seoul are mixed on how serious this threat is and whether military provocation is likely.

The North has for months castigated President Lee and the conservative administration for insulting their leadership and announcing last week a new cruise missile capable of striking anywhere in the south.

Lee had reiterated media reports that estimated the cost of launching the long-range rocket which the North insisted as a peaceful satellite at $850 million. The rocket blew up into pieces just a little over two minutes after take-off, an embarrassment for Pyongyang that had invited world journalists to witness the launch.

That money, analysts say, could have bought enough Chinese corn to feed the hunger-stricken nation's 1.9 million people for one entire year.

Lee has urged North Korea's new leader Kim Jong-Un to reform agriculture and improve human rights.

The failed rocket launch was the main part of a nationwide celebration to commemorate the 100th birth year of North Korea's founder Kim Il Sung on April 15. South Korean media put the cost of mass celebrations that followed which included a military parade, a new mega-sized statue of Kim Jung-Il, and city-wide fireworks at $2 billion.

Methinks baby Kim is in for a long summer if he thinks he'll get away with that.

Iran has provided the example.  Kim is just following.

Apples/Oranges.  N Korea has shown they are testing the ICBM part of a nuclear warhead.  Not so much yet with Iran.

Seriously, they have nothing to lose by attacking anyone if reports of their population starving are true. South Korea is nearby and as good as any. And if their population is as brain scrubbed as reported they may very well be a modern day version of Kamikaze from WWII.

Can't somebody cut the head off that mouse?

As opposed to bluffing the world into thinking they have ICBM capability as a deterrent, making the world think they dont would only be tactically advantageous if their plan is a surprise attack.

Kind of the point I was getting at, but not really saying it.  Why else would you let in a bunch of Western journalists to observe a so-called 'satellite launch'.

Far be it from me to be chicken-hawkish, but NK letting in these journalists for this only to have the rocket go boom and splash down in the sea smacks of misdirection for sure.

You guys are giving too much credit.

1. If the missile failure was a bluff ahead of a sneak attack, they probably wouldn't then announce the neak attack was coming. Kind of defeats the purpose.

2. In the past the only sneaky thing they have done is to blatantly violate the rules and then announce they have done so and will stop if we give them X.  In this instance, they failed and have no leverage to demand food/lifting of sanctions or whatever.  They need a new threat to trade for American food.

3. They invited in journalists because thanking has no pants.  No one is allowed to point out internally that there was a 75% chance that rocket would fail as a normal partvof development... so dearest leader didn't know he shouldnt brag.  No one was going to tell him failure was a serious option.  Now it blew up in their face and the only thing they know how to do is over react and wag the dog.

They know good and well that they have 4 months to roar without consequences.  ;D

Come November they will "show a sincere desire to open talks."

I don't think we have to fear an ICBM attack. They could however easily deliver one or more dirty bombs into Seoul and play that game. Normally when one's population is starving they fear revolution. In this case they have overcome that with several generations of propaganda.

North Korean Archeologists Discover Ancient Unicorn Lair (Seriously)

http://gizmodo.com/5964719/north-korean-archeologist-discover-the-lair-of-king-tongmyongs-unicorn-no-joke?utm_campaign=socialflow_gizmodo_twitter&utm_source=gizmodo_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow

QuoteArcheologists of the History Institute of the DPRK Academy of Social Sciences in North Korea claim they have found the "lair of the unicorn rode by King Tongmyong." Yes, folks. A unicorn. The unicorn that their good old King used to ride back in the day.*

According to the official Korean News, King Tongmyong was the founder of the Koguryo Kingdom (277BC to 668AD). The archeologists say the unicorn's lair "is located 200 meters from the Yongmyong Temple in Moran Hill in Pyongyang City. A rectangular rock carved with [the] words Unicorn Lair stands in front of the lair. The carved words are believed to date back to the period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392)."

According to Jo Hui Sung, director of the History Institute:

Korea's history books deal with the unicorn, considered to be ridden by King Tongmyong, and its lair. The Sogyong (Pyongyang) chapter of the old book 'Koryo History' (geographical book), said: Ulmil Pavilion is on the top of Mt. Kumsu, with Yongmyong Temple, one of Pyongyang's eight scenic spots, beneath it. The temple served as a relief palace for King Tongmyong, in which there is the lair of his unicorn.

The old book 'Sinjungdonggukyojisungnam' (Revised Handbook of Korean Geography) complied in the 16th century wrote that there is a lair west of Pubyok Pavilion in Mt. Kumsu.

There you have it. Apparently, North Korean's scientists are as truthful and trustworthy as the country's dictators and political establishment. Unicorn? Lairs! All sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

It seems that North Korea thinks this is great news because it "proves that Pyongyang was [the] capital city of Ancient Korea as well as [the] Koguryo Kingdom." The next thing they will claim is the discovery of a secret door to the Kingdom of Hyrule. Then they will claim their right to own Japan. [Korean News]

* That in the photo is not their old king, but their latest supreme leader and sexiest man in the world.

By their deeds you shall know them. The gathering of the sheaves of the harvest shall burn so shall be the ending of world, as written in the history of the books of the Israel by Moses.  As children we are involve in trying to change societies that have formed and sustained their traditions over thousands of years.  We reek with smell of false capitalism only to wallow in the mire of greed. Of all the Empires with their Emperors before us, not one has had at their disposal the power available to lift a finger and remove all life forms from this planet. We are not the only possessor of this power.  This power is distributed among many nations.  There is a reason why the suicides of this nation among the military are the highest ever recorded and still increasing. We support many times the Rebels encouraging changes conceived in favoritism.  We have sent our military on assassinating missions. We are sending drone explosive aircraft into the citizen's homes destroying their homes, their wives and children. By retaliation if they choose they can land a missile on any of our cities within 30 minutes.  The Maya empire that Cortez, in his plunder of gold for Spain, destroyed an advanced society, the liken of the builders of the great pyramids of Egypt we cannot explained.  When on looks into the heavens with even a low powered telescope see the billions of sun's and their orbiting planets still we cannot even exsplain their orignion or mass needed for creation.

The Mayan's in their predictions indicate they will be moved to another place in the latter part of December in 2012.
