Coburn and Schumer to sit together for the State of the Union address

I'm just as critical of Coburn as any of the Democrat or even some Republicans, but I will give kudos here.  I'm sure he faces excoriation from many in his own party, as I'm sure Schumer does.

Both deserve credit.  I hope this doesn't become an unfulfilled promise.  I think it's high time that children can look at members of Congress as role models, and not sniping children, as it has been for quite some time now.

I know, it's a HuffPo article, but it was also stated on "Meet the Press" by both Senators.

Mr. Coburn is good guy.  He hasn't been very dishonest with the voters (unlike you know who!) and has done a very decent job and seems to be an honorable man.  And I have looked at what he does as much as I do the other, much less talented Senator from Oklahoma.

If it wouldn't be such a loss to the state, I could probably stand to have him as President.  Especially given the sorry-a$$ crop of losers out there for the last several elections - and apparently the next several.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

We have heard other stories about Coburn defending Pelosi in town halls here, etc etc.  Obviously the guy is what a Republican should really be.

He has talked about her personally.  He doesn't agree with a lot of her politics, but can be civil.  Unlike so many...

I strongly disagree with Coburn's politics, but his actions in the last year or two have begun to make me think that perhaps he's not the terrible person he plays on TV. I still wouldn't vote for the guy, but at least I have some respect for him now.

Defending Rep. Pelosi defines what a Republican really should be?  Really?

So would defending a Republican colleague define a "good" Democrat as well?

No, defending the facts against baseless smears is one of the hallmarks of a good Senator.

No, just comments directed at him. ;)

That's fine you remind me far less of the scarecrow than Trog does.

Defending against smears because they are in a specific position? Yes .  Much like from now on any Democrat presidential candidate before the primary that is in the lead is the most "liberal ever"  You forget a large majority of the Republican complaints against Democrats involve them being overweight, not liking their make up, or had cosmetic surgery.
