Either the Super Bowl committee needs to hire me to find the right person over the age of 25 that can sing the National Anthem.

Or just have me sing it. I sat there singing along and all of the sudden. A whole verse was left out by a supposed superstar by todays standards. Embarrassing ! absolutly Embarrassing !

For Gawds sake, Roseanne Barr at least knew the words.
How many times do you think she rehearsed that song this week ?
It doesnt matter, throw another half Million at her and be done with it. Sheesh ! ::)
Changing opinions one mistake at a time.

She looked pretty good though. 'Course any girl under 25 does seem to...

I really liked the reading of the Declaration by NFL players and personnel before the game. Classy.

I'm sorry. I disliked it. I think it first was Tea Party style pandering crap by Fox, and second and much more importantly, by it's placement and with the blending of Soldiers and football players reading, it furthers the idea that football players are American "warriors" that should be held in esteem as such. That they are somehow defenders of our freedom. They aren't and that's crap.

They are well paid very large boys playing a violent game. I like football myself and am a fan, but we are in two real wars with real soldiers that are really losing their lives. Do something to honor them, great. I loved the medal of honor winner getting a standing ovation, but cut the crap trying to tie the fracking millionaire man children in the NFL to real American soldiers. Attempting to wrap "Great Americans" like Haynesworth, Vick and Roethlisberger in the flag kinda makes me ill.

I hate being a negative Nancy but I saw the same Super Bowl Swake did.

I doubt I'll make much effort to watch it next year.

Swake, I guess I didn't think about it that deeply. I just loved the imagery and the simplicity of the reading by simple ball players. It is the biggest audience a sporting event can command and I don't blame them for showing some patriotism. There were more than players and soldiers reading it.

I thought it was a Fox kind of thing to do but never really linked it with Tea Partiers. In fact, if you listen to the words its not likely they are really understood by a lot of common folk.

I haven't watched that game in its entirety in years. I just happened to flip on that channel during half time. Pro football sucks IMHO. Too much celebrating and self-congratulatory behavior.

That's why me like hockey.  You want rough stuff?  Watch this one-punch knockout goalie fight from last week!

These guys play with 25 stitches, broken bones, knocked out teeth.  I'm not saying NFL players don't have some semblance of toughness, but these guys are brutal.  Some of the hits I've seen the NHL players dish out would make some NFL players weep.
