In the wake of changes to government employee unions' power in Wisconsin and elsewhere, The Communist Party USA is working in conjunction with national labor unions and other left wing political groups to organize protests in Madison, Wisconsin and across the nation on April 4th.

Scott Marshall, Vice Chair of The Communist Party USA said his organization is working with the likes of MoveOn.org, the SEIU, the AFL-CIO and others to make April 4th, the anniversary of the assassination of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., a national day of action.

"Support is beginning to grow," said Marshall in an online meeting earlier this month. "A bunch of organizations already are hyping the idea of massive demonstrations on April 4th."

The Community Party in particular has benefited from the recent debate over Wisconsin government employee unions' power to collectively bargain, using the opportunity to build their ranks.

Never let a good crisis go to waste.

No traction to be had there.  The CPA has been discredited for decades if not generations - the LWRE is moot.  What is nefarious is the credibility still lent to the RWRE.  Hopefully, their evil plots will also be exposed for what they are.

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

Prior to the Malenkov-Ribbentrop Pact, the CPUSA was a viable political party, even here in Oklahoma.  But after Hitler and Stalin became allies, most members walked away in disgust.  The party never recovered.

Besides, the communist's ideas have proven to be unworkable since the First World War.  The system is based on the idea that people will look after each other with a kind of selflessness that is a true rarity.  Our system of government, on the other hand, assumes the very worst about human nature - that we're greedy, selfish, and vain - and the checks and balances in our Constitution are meant to produce both conflict and compromise.  It works.  It isn't pretty or efficient, but it works.

May you live in interesting times.

Yep.  That's for sure.  You elaborated on what I said about discredited for generations.

If you go carryin' pictures of Chairman Mao...you ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow...

I have Mao's Little Red Book.  Sensible, plausible discussion of wildly irrational thoughts.  Gee, who does that sound like today??  Oh, yeah...Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity.  All the same - when you go far enough left and far enough right, you come full circle and meet at the point of tyranny and cheesy little tinhorn dictators.  (The universe is curved and follows a path much like a Moebius strip.)
