That is really something- Carjackings are one reason why drivers need to be armed. Very tragic and sad.

For sure, but it makes it that much less likely. Besides, once you have the gun in your face, trying to reach for your own is only going to result in your being shot. All you can do at that point is comply and/or hope that someone else nearby has a gun and is willing to use it.

The guy in the Panda Express drive through could have been just as unfortunate even though he apparently didn't resist.  Your odds are still better if you have the ability to protect yourself.  It's not going to work out for every person every time but at least you are on a level playing field.

It looks as if they handcuffed the dead perp when they pulled his arms out of the window of the truck.  Anyone else see that?

I had to run by the house not long after they had blocked Yale off, there were police cars about as far as the eye could see.

Sgt. Walker tells FOX23, two men approached a third man at his land in Prue, one stole a white GMC Safari van, driving off, while the other man abducted the victim, forcing him into his white Ford pick-up at gunpoint.

The gunman then drove to the victim's Tulsa home, in the 2200 block of S. Oswego Place.  Sgt. Walker says around 12:30pm, the first shots were fired at that house.  The gunman then forced the victim back into the truck and drove from the house on Oswego Place to a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at 21st & Yale.

Here's where the story starts to fail to make any sense:

Police say both the gunman and the victim then entered that Wal-Mart, and the gunman fired several shots inside the store, according to witnesses.
Police say the first victim fled the Wal-Mart on foot, unharmed.

The Whirled's version is just as confusing, sounding like a pursuit that got out of control:

When officers got there, they saw a suspect walking to the door with something in his hand. Once he got to the door, he put a gun to a man's head and held him hostage, initial reports indicate.
Officers tried to intervene as the gunman and hostage got into a vehicle and started driving toward Yale Avenue. Witnesses said that as gunman drove, he fired shots at police, according to Ashley.
The man then pulled into the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 21st Street and Yale Avenue and went inside. Witnesses reported seeing a gunman firing shots in the store.
