The Greenwood District of Tulsa, OK was known as "Black Wallstreet" and "Little Africa" by media in the 1920s because it was the financial, educational, and spiritual epicenter of African Americans in the entire country. It was also one of the richest cities in the country. Shame on the city of Tulsa and its newspapers for not remember the June 1, 1921 slaughter of 1500 innocent children, women, and men not only by angry savage white mobs, but backed by the local sheriff and bombers from the Oklahoma National Guard. The few who did survive were raped and/or incarcerated; while the entire town was looted by the white mobs and completely burned to the ground; left in ruins. Know your history to know what we are dealing with today!

Welcome dabeesta17! Yes, many here remember all too well the destructive and hateful past of our city.

Beware. There are master baiters all around this slide of town @TNF. Try not to let the sarcastic replies obscure your desire to get the truth out. After all, it's still not taught in school. And today, the politics of destruction can be seen everywhere as fear of our leader precipitates from inbred intolerant generations dating back to this very 1920 turning point. I often wonder "what would our city be like had this not happened here" as it did in so many cities across America back then by the uneducated and the belligerent hate mongers that defined Tulsa for decades.

I believe This Land was going to run some stories this month attempting to set the record straight.

Thank you for posting this new Youtube lesson. Never forget.

Dirty Little Secret lyrics
Songwriters: Kunkel, Russell; Nash, Graham;

Greenwood Oklahoma, June of ?21
Someone set the night on fire
Lost a lot of people as the day begun
Who lit the funeral pyre?

On an elevator in the heart of town
Someone make somebody scream
Black and white, going up and down
Who?s gonna lose a dream?

Dirty little secret

Headlines printed in the daily news
Awake the sleeping rage inside
Disarm the people, keep ?em all confused
Kill before they turn the tide

Dirty little secrets going round
Whispering from ear to ear
Burning down the very heart of town
Nobody shed a tear

Dirty little secret, dirty little secret

Look up to the sky, your tears fall from the clouds
(From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/g/graham-nash-lyrics/dirty-little-secret-lyrics.html)
But Greenwood don?t you cry, just shout it right out loud

It?s such a dirty little secret

Getting so much darker every day
It?s hard to rise above it all
?Can?t we get along?? I heard somebody say
Who?s gonna make the call?

'Cause all the walking wounded pay the price
For living in the promised land
Take care of your neighbor would be my advice
?Cause nothing ever goes as planned

It?s such a dirty little secret
Dirty little secret, dirty little secret
Dirty little secret

Dirty little secret, dirty little secret
Dirty little secret, dirty little secret
