Egads, the whole point was that it appears to me that there is an opportunity for one IN downtown or perhaps somewhere between Cherry/Brookside and downtown.  Sorry I mentioned it lol.

There is definitely an opportunity to expand late night eats in downtown/midtown.  The point was you don't have to leave midtown to find lots of different options.

Broken Arrow had GTE.  Always wished to have a different company (AT&T), but ended up with Windstream.  Absolute proof of the postulate, "Be careful what you wish for!"  Wish GTE was back.

Red,
Nice little neighborhood there.  I have always wanted to get a place there, but the prices just kept creeping up faster than the money available.  Knew a guy who lived there who was ME.  Worked on 15th street near Sheridan.  Did you?  (I think you are too young to be him...)

Finally was able to go back to Waffle House last year after NOT for about 15 years.  Got food poisoning there that put me in hospital for 3 days one time.  THAT leaves a bad taste in your mouth!

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

Let me also rise to the defense of the Village Inn on Harvard.

That was me and my friends' late-night dining spot of choice back in the "late party" days of my 20s.  :)

But I do agree that downtown needs a spot like that.  IHOP or Village Inn (or even better - a local version) would be a slam-dunk in downtown, IMO.

+1 to the Village Inn on Harvard!

While it doesn't satisfy the need for a downtown late night spot, does anyone on here go the Corner Cafe at 11th & Peoria?

Although it's been many years, I used to frequent the VI on Harvard, sometimes walking/stumbling over from IV Play.  I haven't been in a while, so I can't say if its aged gracefully or not.

Went there once for breakfast and it wasn't nearly as good as Tally's.

But mainly if I'm in the mood for a big breakfast, I'll go to Blue Dome Diner.

+1 on the Blue Dome Diner.  One of my favorite breakfast places in town.

The Corner Cafe on 11th and Peoria.... ugh, went there earlier this year with some friends who were visiting from Dallas.  It was bad.  I like the "old diner" theme if your going for that, but it was nasty dirty.  The first thing I noticed when I sat down were the plastic ketchup bottles, they had been reused, and thats ok, but the old stickers were still on them and had turned grey and were partly peeling off looking really raunchy.  Then everyone at the table noticed the smell of the water glasses.  They had that, been wiped down with an old, damp, musty rag smell.  Little things like that make ya start looking around and wondering.  If it looks old an run down, fine, but if you also start noticing gross stuff. Not good.

That's been my impression from passing the Corner Cafe, but I've never been in.  It was written up/reviewed by the T. World recently.  While its scores were low (2 stars for food, 1 star for atmosphere), the article itself was pretty favorable.  There is definitely a distinction between a diner that's a dive but good, and a diner that's just dirty.

Blue Dome Diner should stay open late and be our local, downtown version of IHOP/Village Inn.

When Phat Philly's reopens at 13th & Peoria later this year they will most likely be open late.  At least they were when they were at 11th & Detroit (and so is the Dog House that took its place).

It's as simple as calling the owner.  Elliot reads TNF from time-to-time, he could do that with Dilly Deli as well.

well, and proving demand. Hard to justify keeping the lights on all night (and paying a shift manager, cook and waiter) Thursday Friday and Saturday if no one is going to come in.

I thought Brian Pruitt was the chef/owner of Blue Dome Diner.   It has been around a lot longer than Elliot.   I know Elliot has his fingers in a lot of pies downtown but I didn't know that he had bought out Brian.
