Incumbent Jack Henderson faces Twan Jones and Jason Trent in a winner-take-all primary. Thoughts?

Would Twan's middle name happen to be Tremayne?

Would Jason's middle name happen to be Vonzell?

That's the right middle initials. Not sure.

Well then, I'm sure they will be no obstacle for Henderson.

It's time for Henderson to move on.  For some reason that district thinks he's the only person looking out for their best interest, yet they don't realize how limited he is and what an anathema he seems to be with the rest of the council at times.

As a resident of District One it is maddening.  It's like picking the best of the worst.  Back Jack the incumbent, go with a community organizer or a hotel clerk?   You tell me the intelligent choice?

Jack is an old school ghetto politician.  His power comes from keeping his constituents down.  If they rise up and improve themselves they'll realize they don't need him anymore.  It's sad.

Thankfully Tul$a Bi$Pac helped keep him in office.

Unfortunately BOTH of his opponents have skeletons that he can easily bring forth during a debate.  Sure, everyone deserves a second chance, but politics is a microscope.

District 1 needs a Brady Heights or Reservoir Hill challenger against Henderson IMO.

The problem is Brady Heights and Reservoir Hill are two very small ponds (bordering on mirages in some minds) in a big desert.

Historically, to win district one (or any political office that represents the area) you've needed to be a democrat, have a good relationship with the "pastoral" figures in the community and be able to show you can "relate" to the neighborhood.  Unfortunately, the people that are "gentrifying" these two neighborhoods don't fit all three of those criteria.

I had hoped beyond hope that district four would someone cut north of downtown and encompass LL Tisdale to Cincinnati all the way to at least Pine in the same way it took over Owen Park.  Due to the redistricting laws that will not happen for many, many years, if ever.

That would have been some torturous gerrymandering had it happened. Though, I agree with your assessment that those two areas are more like small ponds near a lake. You would  have a hard time with a leadership emerging from those two ponds that had anything but adjacent geographical location in common with each other. North Tulsa loves its pastoral connections.

And unfortunately that is what is holding that part of the city back minus the bright spots of Brady Heights and Reservoir Hill, and Gilcrease Hills to an extent.
