November 11, 2011 – Roger Waters, the co-founder and principal songwriter of the archetypal progressive band Pink Floyd, has announced the return of the historic production of "The Wall" to North America in 2012. His aural and visual masterpiece of alienation and transformation will be performed in-its-entirety featuring a full band and state-of-the-art production. "The Wall" live has played more than 120 shows around the world for more than 1.6 million fans making it one of the most successful tours of 2010 and 2011. Tickets for "The Wall" 2012 go on sale beginning on Monday, November 7th at LiveNation.com.

The 2012 tour will begin on May 1st in Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center making a 36 show trek throughout North America, including several outdoor stadium performances with state of the art modifications transforming the arena production into magnificent outdoor events. The tour, promoted by Live Nation, includes stadium stops in San Francisco at AT&T Park on May 11th, Vancouver at BC Place on May 26th, Chicago's Wrigley Field on June 8th, Toronto at Rogers Centre on June 23rd and Philadelphia at the Citizens Bank Park on July 14th.

"Thirty years ago when I wrote 'The Wall,' I was a frightened young man," Waters recalls. "In the intervening years it occurred to me that maybe the story of my fear and loss with its concomitant inevitable residue of ridicule, shame and punishment, provides an allegory for broader concerns: Nationalism, racism, sexism, religion, whatever! All these issues and 'isms are driven by the same fears that drove my young life."

Waters' first reinvented his iconic stage production of "The Wall" in 2010 utilizing modern day technological advances and special effects which have been embraced by audiences around the globe with countless sold out performances and multiple-night stands including a record-breaking 9 sold out shows at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina. "The Wall" remains one of the most influential albums in the history of recorded music with a profound effect on pop culture, resonating with multiple generations of music fans.

Prior to 2010, "The Wall" show was simply too large to contemplate a tour, but new arenas and advances in touring technology have solved that dilemma. Waters has updated the look and feel of the show to ensure it matches the astonishing theatrical extravaganza that The Wall's live incarnation became so legendary for - thus allowing yet another generation to be inspired by the grandeur of the breathtaking visual and aural spectacle. The 1980 original production of the "The Wall" had been performed live-in-its-entirety just 29 times during Pink Floyd's 1980 tour in support of the album and once in Berlin in celebration of the fall of the Berlin wall.

The Associated Press described opening night in 2010 with, "Roger Waters tore down the house Wednesday night in Toronto...He walked out to thunderous applause beginning with the first track of the seminal concept album, 'In the Flesh', and the adulation never stopped." While during the New York stop, the New York Post declared, "When Roger Waters finished building "The Wall" in its entirety, at Madison Square Garden, it was just another brick on what was the best arena concert I've ever been to. Period."

In addition to Roger Waters (lead vocals, bass), "The Wall" live touring ensemble includes: Snowy White (Guitar), Dave Kilminster (Guitar), GE Smith (Guitar & Bass), Jon Carin (Keyboards), Harry Waters (Hammond Organ), Graham Broad (Drums), Robbie Wyckoff (Vocals), Jon Joyce, Pat Lennon, Mark Lennon and Kipp Lennon (Backing Vocals).

Thank you so much for posting this. I have got to see this show live. The videos of last years concerts are just awsome.

Also. Do any of you have inside tips on buying BOK Concert tickets ? The last ones that I bought from LiveNation was a pain in the a$$ trying to get through on the phone the moment the tickets went on sale.

Your best bet?  If you have some time to kill around the time they go on sale, make the trip downtown to the box office.  It's better that way.

Got em. I joined Roger Water's dot com and was able to get my tickets on Pre-Sale. Two tickets in the bowl area just off the floor. This is going to be epic.

Got my FF via pre-sale.  That, and the fact that the Foo's most expensive seats were 49 bucks and they were on stage nearly 3 hours made it the most epic concert I've ever been to.  Enjoy!

Help me out here guy's. I am thinking about making a night of it and renting a hotel room Downtown for the Wife and I. And dinner before the show. Where would you guy's eat and stay at ? She is not really a person who likes walking long distances so keep that in mind.

What is a long distance?

I've not been to Trula in a while but a while back I'd've suggested Mayo and Trula.  I can't say how the food is anymore though.

You might check to see if Ambassador is running a shuttle that night.  Then I'd say there and eat at Chalkboard.

I'm hestitent.  Anyone seen/talked to someone who has seen this show?

Sometimes retired artists who come back are doing it for other rea$on$ than to put on a good show...

Yes, either the Mayo or the Ambassador. Most likely your pre-concert meal will not be a four-course affair, you're probably looking for heavy appetizers or a sandwich, so you can't go wrong at either place (Trula at the Mayo or the Chalkboard at Ambassador).

I saw his "In the Flesh" tour in '99, and then the "Dark Side" tour a few years later. Both were totally worth it, and I drove to Pennsylvania for the first one.

The epic proportions of the stage show for this are amazing. Don't hesitate to buy tickets. This isn't like going to see Styx with a different singer at the casino, it's Roger Waters! He is not a has been, but a pioneer.

If you have the dough, the Ambassador/Chalkboard is your best bet, especially because the hotel offers a free shuttle (Escalade) until 11pm. If there are enough reservations, The Chalkboard rents the trolley and offers round trip rides to the show for $6/person. And the food is outstanding.

And, like I said, Roger is not retired, he's been touring the past 10 years, and released couple of fine albums after Pink Floyd. "Amused to Death" is incredible.

Best show that I have ever seen in my life. It was worth every penny spent. I would go and see it again if the opportunity ever comes around.

One of the great performance art pieces ever.... fun to observe.

I think there's 60 million dollars invested in the entire production which has been touring for 2 years.

185 union Stage Hands for R. Waters (not counting their entourage, probably 50).

Best beam projection I've seen... 64 I-5, plus sub side car Line Array. 64 R-4s for rear 'surround fill'.

If it were not for the two intoxicated chickies right in front of me who truely must have believed they could "chat" over that sound system and except for the odor in the BOK (is that sanitizer or some pumped in sense smell to cover pot?), I'd have said it was up there as well with regard to overall concert enjoyment. Having been there and done that, it still was great to experience.

Perhaps, the greatest achievement was going up outside the BOK....
