And a happy Chanukah to you too, Conan!

Is there a traditional dish of comfort food in Jewish households on this holiday?  In our house, it was pork and sauerkraut or kielbasa and sauerkraut, but that wouldn't sit well with Orthodox Jews.  My family is mostly Polish.

Heh, funny Ed, I didn't even think about it but I made a batch of home-made chicken soup last night.

I still can't walk past the duck frites there.  I know, I know...arteries are clogging just thinking about them.

My mom used to make chicken soup with homemade noodles.  And now that I think of it, that would be fairly easy to do by making the dough in the bread machine or the mixer, and I could use it as an excuse to buy a pasta cutter.

I did not make my own noodles but I did use some Amish noodles I found at either Whole Paycheck or Reasor's, I can't remember which place.  They are nice, wide, thick noodles.  Perfect for a soup.

FMC has a Kitchen-Aid.  Two purchases I plan to make for it when it arrives with her in Tulsa finally are the pasta attachment and meat grinder/sausage attachments.

I have been coveting my mother's for a long time.  I figure if I ever manage to get somewhat ahead, that will be one of my first expensive kitchen purchases.  I do recommend the cheese grater attachment, it makes it soooo much easier to turn a block of cheese into a big bowl of shredded.

We have the shredder/slicer & meat grinder attachment.  Don't use them as much as I'd hoped.

I used the fresh wide egg noodles when I make any noodle soup.
