What I predicted was three years in the green and then the future would be red for the citizenry as the decline in revenues would be out paced by expenses. I've always maintained these types of projects make no economic sense unless you find a tenant like the Thunder. Sorry, I was never a status quo/Keep Up With the Jones' type....

Tulsa is in an enviable position of having stayed ahead on the economy since the BOK opened.  I suspect if Tulsa and Oklahoma had gone 10% unemployment, the BOK might not be doing as well.  Instead, it's staying near the top in event revenues.

I'm sorry TTC. I'm a broke sum b!tch and it's who they can get and bring here not how many as far as i'm concerned. I plunked down more than I should because Roger Waters see's fit to make a stop in good ol Tulsa and he wouldn't be doing it if we still had the Convention Center as our venue.

I think the BOK also weathered the recission in part because it was new, which helped it attrack more acts than if it had been a mature arena, which attracked better crowds.  Also, because it was new and Tulsa had not had these kinds of concerts for so long, I think people were more willing to use their limited entertainment dollars to go to concerts.
