Breathless coverage of Iowa caucus

Maybe the Mayan's were right and the world will come crashing to an end this year.  We can only hope.  Given the coverage of tomorrow's Iowa caucus, maybe someone will decide to push the big red button and end this planet in nuclear annihilation.

I've had MSNBC on the telly most of the morning with the sound (thankfully) muted.  Coverage has consisted of talking heads conversing with people in diners and coffee shops, and as happens when there's little of substance to chatter about, the talking heads talk to each other.  Meh.

It seems that probable nominee Mitt Romney is closely followed by Ron Paul with Rick Santorum coming up behind.  Despite his loyal following, Ron Paul isn't electable on the national stage.  Too much nuttiness.  Santorum's frothy mix of conventional conservatism and TP pandering has a certain appeal, provided no one looks too carefully at his record.  It's hard to rail against the government when you've made your living in government, or at least it's hard if you have a modicum of integrity and avoid hypocrisy.

Meanwhile, Michelle Bachman's staffers have been standing on street corners soliciting spare change in order to have bus fare to go home.

This is only going to get worse as we approach the general election.  Maybe the sun will go nova.  Maybe we'll have that nuclear Armageddon.  Or maybe we'll be over run by hordes of the walking dead, only this time they'll have expensive suits and four hundred dollar haircuts, and they'll be trailed by camera crews and sound technicians so we'll have full 24/7 coverage.

SEND IN THE CLOWNS!

Whoever wins this race, or the one to come in November will be chosen by the PAC with the most money. Stop believing the propaganda. Stop feeding the hoopla machine.

Given my tastes in especially bad television, Gee, I really don't miss much by turning the sound off.  I don't miss the nattering that passes for color commentary during football games.  Those craptastic Saturday night movies on Sci-Fy are more enjoyable.

Meanwhile, MSNBC has just discovered that there are other things going on in the world today!  Imagine that.

I see that you googled Santorum...

Yep.  I saw Keira Knightley (I think) describing how she'd 'lost her innocence' after reading that piece.  How could I resist?....though I wish I had.
