I liked the speech. Just looking at the form it was great. Started well and made clear, concise points. The contrast between a sitting president with communication skills versus those currently applying for the job is tremendous. The republicans I saw on the replays of their response this morning seemed doom and gloom. Clear choices presented.

Unfortunately I have to go back and watch it again cause my early am job forces me into sleepytime kind of early. Nodded off about half way through.

Cantor's response in a nut-shell:

"We must repeal every action of this president and make sure he's a one-termer."

Biden's response:

"This is a major bucking deal!"

People who like the President liked the speech. People who don't like the President will find nit-picky things to hate about it.

Happens with every President.

True enough. I was just trying to set aside my obvious partisanship and look at the nature of the speech, its effectiveness, delivery etc. It seems it did what it was supposed to do and he did it well. I could never stay with Clinton speeches.

As far as what he had to say....obviously sent from angels directly to his lips. ;)

That's because you stared at that finger wondering where it'd been.

Its not nice to point.

I just couldn't understand about half what the guy was saying and he said so dang much. I was not as much into politics then as now. I was into schools, jobs, business, family and keeping the fat off my bones. In fact, I hardly paid any attention to Clinton's escapades. Any more than I did anyone else's. Just pissed me off that so many people did.

But that's all past now. We forgive now. And we're going to have to forgive a lot with the Grich.

I have trouble with how BO plops his hands on the podium.

I thought the speech had a nice organization to it, but being a fan doesn't mean I agreed with everything he said. But the ironic picture he drew from the efficiency and decency our military manages their duty compared to the breakdown in DC was obviously lost on you Cantor fans.....

Instead, you choose to go back to the days before it was all Bush's fault. :D

This is funny.  SSDD apparently.

Hey, look at it this way: he probably saved the taxpayers a few thousand dollars by using his previous speech outlines rather than cobbling together something new.  He's doing his part to be thrifty, you should compliment him on this.

Congress wouldn't take action on the largest domestic issues facing us this side of the economy and he's supposed to...stop talking about it?
