Moving back! Need an apartment/house/duplex

I'll be moving back to Tulsa in just a few weeks and I'm looking for an apartment, rent house or duplex. I prefer downtown, Riverview, Cherry Street or the adjacent areas, but I'm willing to live just about anywhere in town. Just being back in Tulsa will be a treat . I've looked through craigslist and padmapper, but thought you all might have seen some signs in front of houses or apartments, or maybe you know someone who's renting out their house. Thanks in advance!

Wishes: Looking for 1-2 bedrooms. If it's a duplex or house, I'd like a fenced-in yard, and I'd like to be close to parks, trails and restaurants. And all under $700.

Ha! I don't think anything in the Oil Capitol District would fit my price range. I really wish GreenArch or the apartments south of Hey Mambo were ready to move in...

They have to start building them first.

There are plenty of affordable housing options near your new work. Not great options, but plentiful.

Have you thought about central park towers?  When I lived there the rent was $950 BUT that's all bills including cable.  It's works out to be not that expensive.

Now-a-days it could be cheaper to buy a house than rent. I like the RiverSide area of town.

  I personally hadn't thought about it this way, but several young people I have talked to about downtown"ish" living say the Central Park towers are old and out-dated and they are very "Suburban" in design.  They don't fit in with the urban fabric and connect with the street "aka a pedestrian friendly streetscape".   The 70s and 80s were a horrible time for good urban design and there are a lot of unfortunate buildings downtown that show that.

Rent plus all my utilities doesn't even come close to $950, so Central Park is probably out of the question, unfortunately.

when I used to rent that would get you 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in a townhouse.

I bought a house because it cost less than the townhouse.

I have to disagree on the pedestrian part, and not quite sure what it means by being suburban in design as apartment or condo towers are very rare in suburbia.  I lived there in the late 1980's and found it quite easy to walk anywhere in downtown from there.  You are literally just a couple of blocks from the Civic Center & courthouse, a few blocks from OSU Med Center, and only a 10 minute walk or less from many office buildings in downtown.  When I lived there, they had a dry cleaning pick up and drop off, a small commissary, a bar in the north building, as well as a fitness center.  We had Homeland just south of there for groceries.  They were also apartments then and not condos.  Not sure how well the condo association is maintaining the common areas these days, but it was always nice back then.  

It's a perfect example of dense urban living.  Only thing missing at this point is a grocery store in the downtown area, but that's coming.
