OKLAHOMA CITY - Former Oklahoma Gov. and U.S. Sen. David Boren is supporting an effort to have a bipartisan presidential ticket on the November ballot in all 50 states, saying the country's two-party political system is in need of "shock therapy" to cut through hyper-partisan rhetoric.

Standing behind boxes containing more than 52,000 signatures of Oklahoma voters, Boren said Tuesday he has signed up to become a delegate for Americans Elect. The group is gathering signatures to place their candidates on the ballot in all 50 states.

It will have an online nominating convention to select a presidential and vice presidential candidate from opposite parties.

The group said it already has collected 2.5 million signatures and needs only 400,000 more to get on the ballot in every state.

I had not heard of this movement prior to now, had anyone else?

Thanks for becoming an Americans Elect Delegate!

Dear Delegate,
Thank you for signing up. As an Americans Elect delegate, you have the power to change politics as usual: you decide the issues, you ask the questions, you choose the president. And your candidate is on the ballot in every state!

This election, pick a president, not a party.

What's your impressions so far Ruf?  No appearance of being a front for some ultra-conservative or ultra-liberal movement?  Not like there isn't precedence for that.  Thanks for the post, I'm reading around their site.

Well, after answering over 200 questions with many many more to go..... if it's a front for any group, I'd guess it's a front for endangered political species like blue-dog democrats and RINO's...  :D
