Going in to the west Tulsa shopping center at 61st and 33rd west avenue.

In the space that used to be Napoli's/SilverDollar/SimpleSimon's Pizza...

Same people?   (NOT Action Erection?  I hope....)

Two FB posts by Knotty Pine:

QuoteHi Everyone - Please excuse the annoying spam we are dealing with today. We keep dealing with people who form new Facebook profiles and then comment inaccurate and malicious lies over and over. We can assure you that things are moving forward. The Broken Arrow store will be open in the very near future - we hope to announce an opening date soon!

QuoteAnd obviously, we didn't make the Oct. 20ish date that was reported in the Tulsa world but fully anticipate that the BA store will be open very soon. As soon as those doors are open, we'll shift our focus back to the West Side store. Thanks for your continued patience - we really love and appreciate you all!

Wow!  Broken Arrow again, huh?  Well, they burned down the first one they had there, too, so I guess they are going for a tri-fecta....

Knotty Pine FB post:

All permits are in hand and the smoker is fired up at the Broken Arrow Knotty Pine! We will be open for lunch and dinner beginning Monday November 5! Grand Opening Party to follow next weekend if weather permits!

Is the West Tulsa location ever going to open?

From the reviews, it looks like Action Erection just moved east a few miles.  I did see a small smoker behind the building a few weeks ago, and thought that would never be big enough for a restaurant.

Wonder who it is running the place?

Will have to try it - doesn't look like it's gonna work out, though.

Was there a screen around the smoker?

No.  But it wasn't smoking either.  I think it was just sitting in "storage" at the time - and it looked like something about the size of what I would use at home.  I haven't been back to see what is going on.

May have to try them next week just so I know....

Most likely that's just a portable unit for catering or something.  They had a very large built in at the old joint.  You have to be able to turn 300-600 lbs of meat a day at a restaurant like that.

Yeah.  This unit was WAY too small.  It was just a little bit bigger than what I would consider as "home" unit.

I remember that big box on the west side place.

Has anyone heard who is involved in this thing?  Are there any original Knotty Pine people?  Or is it still the Action Erection group?  Maybe they are the same...original and action??

I get restaurant nostalgia, but Knotty Pine BBQ was always pretty low on my list of good bbq joints in Tulsa.

Where did the idea ever pop in your head that the Action Erection (I just feel filthy when I say that) place had anything to do with Knotty Pine?

There had to have been some kind of connection to the Mingo mess, even if only casual sharing of recipes.  The beans were exactly the Knotty Pine recipe (and the only thing worth eating.)  Also, seems like I remember someone here commenting that someone knew someone, or something...

Sauce tasted kind of like a "Frankenstein-ed" version of the original...started with close to the original, then messed with it.
