It was great!  Even the guy I disagreed with, managed to make the distinction between fertilized egg and knuckle children. She played it deadpan.  Good job to everybody.  Too bad Al didn't come to T-Town.

With Mike Wallace gone, why would we go anywhere else for our national news?

I'm disappointed the intelligentsia on this forum has ignored this thread. Kudos for posting it.

If this one doesnt pass, they will just introduce another where the doctor is required to do an ultrasound and say "Oh, he has your eyes..."

One news report today said a group already intends to.

Oklahoma.  A special kind of stoopid....

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

I think the other group is working on signatures to place it on the ballot in November.

i don't know how close you all have been following the 'personhood bill'.  i have been keeping up with it because it scares the hell out of me.  anyway, yesterday, rep. mike reynolds tried to get the bill reintroduced.  he was told that it couldn't be reintroduced because he didn't follow procedure.  soooo, today, he tried again.  this time when he was told, "no", he started yelling and was removed from the floor.  i really don't have a point here.  i just thought it was funny.

oh yeah, i'm also happy that our house leaders did not let this through.  i know that the petition is still out there, though.  this personhood thing, in my humble opinion, is like opening pandora's box.

Well, at least now they are having to be honest.  They promoted it before saying it was a statement of the (religious) beliefs and support of life in Oklahoma hit wouldn't have any real effect.  Now they are saying it will end abortion, murder, and corporate testing on fetuses (for sweeteners?).  In their hour of desperation they turn to honesty...

Please keep your religious beliefs to yourself.

Ah, so that's who lost it and had to be escorted out.  I heard rumors......

On another note, I'm glad this didn't pass either.  Just another politician looking for something to hang his reputation on who didn't bother to think before he acted.  I'm ready to elect some folks into office who give a damn about what's good for the people, not what's good for them.

A nice thought, but mathematically improbable given our current election system.

I figure if all we are down to is open carry laws and personhood bills, we may as well just shut down the legislature for the year since there's obviously nothing important nor worthwhile on their plate.

I'm just glad the personhood garbage didn't' pass.  Can you imagine the paperwork necessary to grant rights all that trouser protein.

I mean, just coming up with names would be like impossible!
