Two today. Here's the one that's kind of a stunner:

QuoteWhile I've gone to great lengths to keep this website a forum for ideas, and not a personal forum, I should say something about the various stories regarding my political future in Virginia, the state that has been my primary home since late December 2010. The short of it is this: I don't know and am nowhere near deciding.  If I were to run, it would be as a Republican. And I am in the process of changing my voter registration from Alabama to Virginia, a development which likely does represent a closing of one chapter and perhaps the opening of another.

Here's a story as to the other.

You see this as a mass defection?

The one guy ain't running for anything, but now that he has got out of Alabama, he says if he were to ever run again, it would be as a republican. The second person never ran for any office. Why should we care about what she says either?

If that is all it takes...I see your two defectors...

The first guy is obviously torn - worried about the lack of vibrancy the Democrats bring to the table, while flying like a moth to the policies that have taken the cash that Billy Bob had access to from higher tax rates.  Conflicted.

And she is saying she is leaving because of Obama stand on gay marriage...and then does that mean she is gonna endorse a Mormon???  Wow!  That has to be messing with her mind in a big way.  Gotta be huge internal dilemmas there.

One thing that is crystal clear is just how warped and twisted and distorted our political scene has become.

Well, for the first guy who " ain't running for anything" just happens to be the guy that gave a "seconding" speech (along with the poodle) to Obama's presidential nomination just four years ago. D'oh.

And I never said anything about "mass" defections, just 2 in one day. I know, not quite as compelling as your four Rs spread out over four years, with one being Trump. And seriously, Bloomberg? That guy left the democrat party in 2001 to run as a republican. Not one of your better retorts.

Everybody changes for some reason.  Conan changed on principal - I think he could have probably been more effective staying and trying to "push" the way he wants.  That's why I stay with the Democrats - they have just gotten soooo stupid in so many ways - but I can't have any affect from "outside".   But I can certainly understand - my efforts have had no effect - the Dummycrats are still possessed with the idea that I and others like me are unable to decide which sports are best for me to enjoy (shooting sports).

Lieberman changed as an expedient move to stay elected, after he got pushed out in primary.  See what I mean about stupid Democrats....the rest of the state knew better.

A bigot and a carpetbagger, great adds for the GOP

Opposing gay marriage makes one a bigot? Let's look at the biggest bigot of them all I guess:

QuoteAt the same time, Obama reiterated his opposition to Proposition 8, the California ballot measure which would eliminate a right to same-sex marriage that the state's Supreme Court recently recognized.

"I've stated my opposition to this. I think it's unnecessary," Obama told MTV. "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that's not what America's about."

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2008/11/obama-on-mtv-i/

Now, did you call Obama a bigot in 2008? How about calling Hillary a carpetbagger when she moved to New York to become its Senator? Or were those two not "great adds" to the left?

Seriously, any more softballs folks want to lob me?

So these folks are saying "I'd better change political parties.  My craziness doesn't fit with my present affiliation."?

Yeah, that was a bigoted position. Well, probably more politically expedient and pandering than bigoted but still wrong. At least Obama got over it and now has taken a more principled stance.

Not quite to the level of changing your political party because you hate/fear the gheys. When your number one most important political ideal is being anti-gay, well you just might be a bigot.

I wonder if her faith is also going to tell her she's a sinner for holdin leadership positions and running for office

"Let a woman learn in silence with full submission. I permit no woman to teach or have authority over a man; she is to keep silent." 1 Timothy 2:11-12

And hey, look at a photo of her:

Jewelry, that's clearly out of bounds in the bible too

"also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God." 1 Timothy 2:9-10

In the article it said that she went to talk to her priest, that's another no no

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." (I Corinthians 14:34-35)

Good of her to pick and choose what she's going to follow. In the end, she's just a bigot.

Who's to say Obama's recent flip flop on gay marriage wasn't the "politically expedient and pandering" one? Obama? You? And if you are looking for examples of mankind's failure to follow every specific biblical admonishment, then the line probably starts with me. Yep, I dare say I fibbed once or twice and yet I still have the gall to oppose murder, stealing, and other "no nos".

I'm a Ralph too.  Just more moderate.

You and Gaspar call each other this morning about weak posts today?

So gay marriage is akin to murder to this woman. She presumably will ignore some out of fashion biblical orders like having your daughter be raped but gay marriage is over the line, along with "murder and stealing". Got it.

First, I also including stealing and other "no nos" precisely because I KNEW you would take that tack--and because murder and theft are part of the ten commandments as opposed to those "sins" you discussed. If it makes you feel better just substitute no coveting or adultery instead of murder. And you were the one who went way overboard by linking opposition to "gay marriage" to her wearing jewelry and talking to a priest.
