Who's to say Obama's recent flip flop on gay marriage wasn't the "politically expedient and pandering" one? Obama?

Claiming that supporting gay marriage is "politically expedient" is about as strong proof of an ongoing episode of ODS as can possibly be.

How can you not see it that way when it comes on the heels of the presumptive GOP opponent being finalized.  Time to rally the troops on social issues since there's been painfully slow progress on the economy.

What else has changed in Obama's life the last four years which created such an epiphany other than needing to be re-elected?

You're more than welcome to read or listen to his own words on the issue. He was kind enough to provide some explanation. I'm still not sure how pissing off half the electorate is supposed to be politically expedient, regardless of his motivation.

Politicians mis-calculate the repercussions of their actions all the time.  It's like it's in their DNA or something.
