I don't have a problem with Christianson, it's Martinson and Westcott I didn't care for.  Curious why he's announcing a full 18 months prior to the election and 10 months before the filing deadline.  Someone like Christianson shouldn't need that much extra time for fund raising.

It's an old tactic, the Sicilian (Dragon) opening.  Gives him that extra press boost and forces any other serious candidates into the open before they are ready.

From this point on, for every statement Mayor Bartlett makes, the media will hunt down Bill and get a comment.  It's smart, bold, and free until others enter the race.  If other candidates wait too long, they will have a hard time framing a platform against him, and will have to spend more time and money doing so.  It also forces Bartlett's team to switch gears into campaign mode way to early.  This opens the door to criticism, because he can be seen as campaigning when he should be on "Tulsa time."

If we have other serious candidates out there, they will have to make their intensions known.  This means that they will have to be ready to spend campaign time and money.  Bill has essentially thrown down the gauntlet, and until someone picks it up, he's going to get a ton of free press, and a marked advantage for every day he stands alone.

His campaign mgr must be a lion!

At some point I'm waiting for the press to ask him about how he feels regarding fireproof cellphones.

Do you realize how many pairs of slacks are burned down every year from combustable cellular telephony?
It's a real issue!

I know an old Motorola clamshell phone I had in the early 2000s was said to be prone to getting very hot and some did actually catch fire.  I've never heard of it happening though before Mayor Dewey.  Maybe why I make fun of him so much.

It was probably the blunt he didn't put out all the way after lunch that day.

He looks good in a headset. Too bad his family has money, he missed his true calling working in a call center.

Bill Christiansen will be an interesting opponent for Dewey Bartlett.

They have different circles of friends and really don't like each other.

Power is nothing till you use it.

This run is why he almost didn't run for city council in 2009 and chose not to run at all in 2011. I predict Christiansen, Leighty and Bartlett for the repub nod with GT trying his hand next round.

What do you mean by repub nod?  It's a non-partisan race.  Do you think the R clique in town will get together and select a candidate?
