Believe me, I hesitated to post this. Partly because its Yahoo and partly cause its alway inflammatory around here. But since there are so many anti-O's around here that insist that race is not the issue, it begged me to post. This researcher actually thinks Obama's race cost him votes in the black and Latino demos. Maybe as much as 5%. Yet he still overcame the race issue and beat the old white guy and his, uh, huntswoman.

The economy is stuck in first gear, yet if I don't vote for Obama because of that, it's really because I think he's an uppity black man.

It seems that is what some people want to make the election about, but overwhelmingly it is not.

Just as when many lib journalists tried to make people's heads explode in the beginning of the primaries when there was growing conservative support for Herman Cain.  they claimed this was motivated by racism, because he was black, and Conservatives supported him so they wouldn't look racist, and that was racist. KABOOM! BRAINS EVERYWHERE!

I'm not black, so I don't see racism the same way that my black friends do.  I certainly don't make decisions based on race, however I do become disgusted when others attempt to frame or motivate people through racial innuendo.  I see this a lot.  The only people trying to make race the most prominent factor in this election are the usual suspects.  Bill Mahr even goes so far as to say that denying being a racist is racist.  So, again we have narrative being developed using the "Newspeak" and attempting to say to the voter "If you don't vote for President Obama, you're a racist."  I think most of us are above this. I hope.

If you analyse it from a psychological standpoint you find that the claims have very little to do with actual racism, and more to do with narritive.  Democrats are trying very hard to retain ownership of President Obama even though much of what he has done represents failure or diverges greatly from their goals.  If they can shift the blame for that failure on other factors, including race they can continue to push a false narrative that he is being somehow held back by others and that is why his/their intensions never materialize into positive results. This allows them to support him without owning the fruits of his performance.  It's simply another form of blame.

Besides, Obama is half white.  All the racists should at least only hate him half as much.

Conan, this thread should be taken down because you are preaching hate. The resident MP needs to get on the stick and police you as well.

I can't remember where or if I posted this, but if you look at the historical voting trends by race, Obama was right in line with what other Democratic nominees got in regards to the white population, in fact he fared better than some. I understand that these statistics are just a succesptible to liars, but I would put more weight in them.

Per Exit Polls (I used CNN & LA Times based on what I could find online):
                    Male  -Women- 18-29 - 30-44 -  45-64 - 65+   - White -  A-A   - Latino - Asian - Other
2008 Election - 49%  -  56%  -  66%  -  52%  -  50%  -  45%  -  43%  -  95%  -  67%  -  62%  -  66%
2004 Election - 44%  -  51%  -  54%  -  46%  -  48%  -  46%  -  41%  -  88%  -  53%  -  56%  -  54%
2000 Election - 42%  -  54%  -  48%  -  48%  -  47%  -  51%  -  42%  -  90%  -  62%  -  55%  -  55%
1996 Election - 43%  -  54%  -  53%  -  48%  -  48%  -  48%  -  43%  -  84%  -  72%  -  43%  -  64%
1992 Election - 43%  -  51%  -  50%  -  46%  -  46%  -  47%  -  42%  -  83%  -  65%  -  39%  -  ?

Like I said in another thread, there often seems to be some confirmation bias in these racism claims. Heck, he got equal to or more white votes than Clinton. It is especially laughable to hear claims of racism against the candidate that won the election. Shouldn't these types of reports only show up when a minority looses?

That is interesting. The only democrat to win the 65+ crowd was Al Gore. It must have been his boyish charm.

I know, there were some of the numbers that were kind of unusual like that. Like, I thought it was interesting that Asians seems to not care for Clinton, and that more women voted for Clinton the second time.

And a really poor excuse to re-elect someone presiding over it.
