The Tour de France begins next Saturday with a 6.4 Km individual time trial in Liege.  The route includes:

9 flat stages
4 medium mountain stages - one with a summit finish
5 mountain stages - two with a summit finish
2 individual time-trial stages
1 prologue
2 rest days

I came across a description of the race bike used by Team Sky, a Pinarello Dogma 2 that is available for purchase - if you can afford it - at 10,000 Euros.  Think of it as Formula One on two wheels:

Down at the bottom of the page, there's wonderful description of an upcoming BBC series on the World's Most Dangerous Roads, and I love this sentence:

"...old friends Ed Byrne and Andy Parsons crossing over 2,000km of frozen wilderness as the two comedians attempt the epic drive from Yakutz, the coldest city in the world along the infamous "Road of Bones" to finish in the coastal city of Magadan, known as "The gateway to Hell"."

Yep, a road from the coldest city in the world right up the the gateway to Hell.  And if it were in Oklahoma, it would be a turnpike.

May you live in interesting times.

Amen.  How many times does that make now that they've accused Lance of doping?  Eleventy billion?  Got to be close.
