Jimmy Carter Accuses President Obama of 'Widespread Abuse of Human Rights'

A former U.S. president is accusing the current president of sanctioning the "widespread abuse of human rights" by authorizing drone strikes to kill suspected terrorists.

Jimmy Carter, America's 39 th president, denounced the Obama administration for "clearly violating" 10 of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, writing in a New York Times op-ed on Monday that the "United States is abandoning its role as the global champion of human rights."

"Instead of making the world safer, America's violation of international human rights abets our enemies and alienates our friends," Carter wrote.

While the total number of attacks from unmanned aircraft, or drones, and the resulting casualties are murky, the New America Foundation estimates that in Pakistan alone 265 drone strikes have been executed since January 2009 . Those strikes have killed at least 1,488 people, at least 1,343 of them considered militants, the foundation estimates based on news reports and other sources.

Hey Jimmy, look on the bright side, only 12% of the people President Obama vaporized were innocent bystanders, and less then half of them were children. http://www.thebureauinvestigates.com/2011/08/11/more-than-160-children-killed-in-us-strikes/

Wasn't President Carter the one who said that people who are critical of Obama were racist?  Hmm, I never suspected ol' Jiminy was a racist.

Now, this all started with the White House leak that the President himself makes decisions on who gets to die in the "Tuesday Kill Meetings" in the oval office.

The worst possible thing that could happen now is the "Leaker" to be outed and that leaker either being Panetta or Axelrod.  That would show a coordinated election "marketing" effort, not to mention triggering a resignation and likely incarceration.  Panetta has been investigated in the past for this.

Could get interesting.

NOPE...not what he said...he stated racism was a factor in his treatment by many in society. He said it's an issue for Obama which it continues to be....

Nice try to cover though.

I see Obama is getting the same treatment Bush and Cheney did as they traveled around.  Of course, let's be clear that flying the bird at them was not racist.  The only reason anyone would do something like that towards Obama would have nothing to do with his lackadaisical job performance and his repeated flip-flops Etch-A-Sketch moments outright broken campaign promises total naivety at governing the leader of the free world pursuing ideology ahead of reality on the economy eh, yeah, it's all because he's 1/2 black.

Never mind.  Dude is a racist DB.

Carter just cannot shut his freakin mouth, can he?

QuoteCarter achieved a major diplomatic achievement with the Camp David Accords in 1978, which produced peace between Israel and Egypt. Since then, he "has kind of wandered off the highway," said Aaron David Miller, a vice president of the Wilson Center and a former Middle East negotiator for Democratic and Republican presidents.

Did Carter forget he left office 33+ years ago as one of the worst presidents since Woodrow Wilson?

I'm concerned that he forgot that our government's policy/position is that Hamas is a terrorist organization, and that the likes of these folks kidnapped and held Americans in Iran for 444 days. Who was president then?

Irrelevant.  Next question, please!
