Fried Bubblegum?

Really?

Why not just fry a shoe?
When attacked by a mob of clowns, always go for the juggler.

They could have stopped after cheese curds...those things are good. Can't eat more than a couple though.

DolfanBob

The fried beer had to be a all time low. Still not sure how they did it.

How about a fried stick of butter?

First time I've been since Bells closed.

What a cluster. I saw one signs on where to park. It said go east to Hale HS.
Parking 'attendants' everywhere.... Doing nothing but smoking and watching the cluster.
Admission: not a bad price.
Rides: if you don't drop the money on the pass and want to ride more than four rides you'll drop a ton of cash.
If you get the pass there aren't really enough rides to make it worthwhile as all the big rides and some of the kiddie rides are paid for separately.
Love standing in line for 30 minutes watching a ride that seats 40 make rounds with 16 people in it. We got to the front of the line and the operator asks some guy if they're ever going to 'load it up'. After 5 minutes do discussion they began loading it with 40 people. Screw you for making us wait 30 minutes when it should've been 10.
$4 to walk through a fun house. Really?
Rides $3-$7 from what I saw.
Midway games are good, freakshow it what they are these days, interesting but cheesy. Shark exhibit didn't seem sanctioned. Some questionable 'dancing' with a shark by the diver.
IPE building stuff was fun. The whole fam enjoyed that.
Beware the candy store.... Good lord! I didn't know a lot of that stuff was still made. I could've dropped $50 for myself there.

If you're going to have fun with food, drinks, and rides, bring $100 per person minimum. Park at the school and take the shuttle.

Starting Thursday, bring a jacket and maybe rain gear.

Gawd I hope my kids don't want to do that again.... Ever.

No rides.  Ever.  If ya wanna ride rides, save up and go to Silver Dollar City, or Six Flags.  Even with the travel and motel costs, much better value for the money.

NEVER take cash with you, beyond admission amount needed to get an Indian Taco and a drink.  And maybe a cinnamon roll....

That way you don't have to suffer the temptation of 50 bucks worth of candy.... or 7 dollar rides....

IPE building - best free 'freak show' walk in the universe!!  Maybe in all the other universes!!  Gotta love it!!!

LOL, agreed.

We take the boys to Worlds of Fun each year except this one and they wanted to try Frontier City.
Both places you can spend the same amount of money as the fair and do 20 times the stuff.
Hell, the lines at the fair on Wednesday were LONGER than the summer lines at Worlds of Fun on a Saturday.

Apparently they were intentionally keeping the lines long to keep things looking busy.
Who do I write about that? I'm still pissed about that even this morning.

DolfanBob

For several Summers we traveled to all the Amusement parks close to here and my favorite was Magic Springs and Crystal Falls in Hot Springs. It is one that is not really so packed with people that you wait forever to do anything, and the local scenery is just beautiful. And the old Downtown Hotels are wonderful. I would go back anytime.

I guess Silver Dollar City is my favorite in the 250 mile circle range.  Get the amusement park rides plus the 1880's crafts.  And the cave!!  Love the cave!

Blacksmith, glass blower, soap maker - really love lye soap - it is the mildest soap you can get!

And CANDY factory!!!!!  Yay, candy!!

Went to SDC in the late seventies as a kid.  Went through the Marvel Cave.  Every bit as cool as any roller coaster, for sure.

However, riding across Royal Gorge was pretty cool also...

RG - very cool!

This touches on a topic that has always slightly puzzled me.  There are magnificent things to see worldwide, and I hope to get to see more of them before kicking off, but there is so much to do and see in this country that I have trouble going too far afield.  Beyond being blessed with resources and most of what we need to be massively successful, we have some incredible sites and destinations that I submit, in total, exceed any other single country in the world.

Just one little example - most if not all countries in the world have National Parks.  Many have more than one.  We have dozens!

I know people who literally do no vacation event at all in this country, and go to another country every year.  One has not been outside his state since he went to military (New York), except to go to Europe and beyond.  Have tried to get him to come visit, but he literally IS concerned about possible hazards of being in Indian country - will they go on the 'warpath' during his visit.  Geez....

I have a list of foreign attractions I want to see, but there are 50 states worth of attractions on that list, too.

The biggest dilemma I have is how to put the 'bucket list' in order...which to do first.  Maybe Belize next year, but then several somethings here after that.

SDC has some decent coasters now, too.  It is such an easy, reasonable cost 3 day weekend event, it surprises me more northeast Oklahoman's don't go there more often.  Kid pacifier supreme.  Plus, their seasonal events - Fall Festival, Christmas lights, etc ) - during times when kids are in school, make it more interesting as a "kid free" destination.  We try to make a 3 day out of it every two or three (or four) years for one of the special event times.  And we seldom even bother with the Branson shows...but the restrooms at the fiddle players place is a destination all it's own....  (Shoji Tabuchi)
