Does anyone know if or where one can find out what streets are closed downtown and on what days/times?  I would also like to know what events are going on downtown.

My optometrist "friend" often does a clinic on Saturdays for Downtown Tulsa Eyecare and just found out that the street will be closed tomorrow.  This has happened before and patients have given up and rescheduled or complained that it's difficult to find a place to park, so if he knew well enough beforehand he wouldn't have had the clinic that day.

Also, I would like to know if there are events going on and where so that I could have my shop open on those days/times.  For instance, on the days I am open, I usually open my shop at 11am.  The other day there was a run down Boston Ave and by the time I got there it was wrapping up.  If I had known I would have been open early and had stuff out on the sidewalk to get attention and at least let all those people know there is a shop there lol. Also, I am usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and if there is an event going on nearby... I will be sure to have my schedule open so I can be there that day.

I hate to say it but that is one reason many people don't go downtown- the parking hassle, closed streets. Why go to a business downtown when you find a business that is not downtown and has plenty of free parking? If I was looking for a place to open up my business I would not think of making the downtown area of any city my location. I for one never go downtown and I have no need to.

How is that helpful, Mary?
