Potential Gay District

We hijacked another thread to talk about the possibility of creating a Gay District.  I thought...perhaps we should move the subject on to its own thread...and allow the mods to de-hijack the other thread if they choose.

Quick Recap:  IMO...Brady District is the best place in the city to create a Gay District.  It was pointed out by brunoflipper that there are several gay-owned businesses in the area already.  Plus...Brady District is beginning to expand its residential areas.

Many of the businesses that aren't gay-owned...are "arts" type businesses.  I think the Arts District and a Gay District would complement each other very well.  Also...its a great location....it is in Brady, and very close to The Jazz HOF, Greenwood District, OSU-Tulsa, and Blue Dome.

I don't see where anyone loses on this deal.  IMO...a Gay District would benefit the gay community by showing that they are here...and people need to get used to it.  It would create a safe centralized environment for the Gay community...which Tulsa lacks.  Also...it would benefit the City of Tulsa by diversifying downtown...that alone will breed more economic success.

Now...like was mentioned in the other thread...IMO this must be a "grass-roots" effort.  The city can't design this.  And...a good start for a future district IMO...would be to move the Community Center to Brady...which as far as I know...is still possible.  I'll look into that.

Any thoughts...alternatives?
