My viewpoint is best summarized as such:

The street name makes me feel bad.  And you should feel bad.  It needs changed/fixed/repaired (reparation)

If it ain't broke, why fix it
10 (41.7%)
The street name is historical (according to an article that doesn't cite any references)..  It serves to remind us of dark times.. that we don't hope to repeat
5 (20.8%)

I want the street's name changed for reasons completely unrelated to the controversy
1 (4.2%)
I don't care one way or the other (but this sure seems like a waste of time that could be spent on other issues)
6 (25%)

teach the controversy

How about adding one that says "Let's move on and spend our time and money on something that will make a difference to us when we wake up tomorrow."

Option #6 appended with "(but this sure seems like a waste of time that could be spent on other issues)"

I want the street's name changed for reasons completely unrelated to the controversy: Name it after me. I guess now I need to go out and do something dispicable.

I didn't vote. I don't know what sign you are talking about. The Brady Theater and the Brady Arts district both have signs, but they have the right to call themselves anything they want.

I am agreeing that the street name could be changed. It is a public street.

If this is all a waste of time, why are all you guys fighting? It seems like the ones opposed to change are the ones wasting time on this. Remember when they changed the name of a stretch of Greenwood to be officially named Gap Band? I don't remember any protests. Why are people so opposed to this name change?

Had no idea.   I wish I did.  I hated Val Young's guts...with his wee beady eyes.

What stretch of Greenwood did they re-name? I don't recall this.  I do recall the band being named for three prominent north Tulsa streets: Greenwood, Archer & Pine.  Secondly, I don't believe it would have changed the legal mailing address name, much like re-naming Cincinnati "MLK" to the north did not change the official mailing address for those businesses or residents, neither did the nickname of "Cherry St." change merchants addresses on 15th between Peoria and Utica.

One person took it upon himself to start a crusade to change the name of a district and street which would cost others an inconvenience of time and money all so we can pretend Tate Brady never existed. I'll say it again: I'm really weary of people digging to find something to be offended by.

I woke up in a bathtub full of ice in a place they were calling "The Meadows".

I've made a reparation for you
"sign" is now "street name"

I noticed the street signs saying Gap Band at Pine in front of Carver Middle School.
