Saw on their Facebook page that they're closing after this week. Hate to see them go.

Little pricey at $14.00 for a bleu cheese burger with onion rings and iced tea. And, according to the menu on line, $9.00 for a bottle of 3.2 beer?

2 burgers and fries for $12 on wednesdays.

Burger fries and drink at Fuddruckers is more than $9 and they are packed.

I couldn't decipher their beer pricing structure for the life of me.  Was it a glass/pitcher price?

The menu looked, if not fairly creative, at least as if most items were made in-house rather than from a frozen bag from Sam's.  That's all fine and good, but in a city with hundreds of places to buy a hamburger, it needs to be outstanding and you need to remind people you are out there.  I'd pay for a good elk burger or buffalo burger, but to be honest, I had no idea they served that kind of fare.

Was this in the old Braum's east of Sheridan?

Which just goes to show that a lot of consumers are more than willing to pay too much for almost anything.

Burger, fries, and a drink at a sit down all delivered by a waitress for $9 sounds very reasonable.

Who does all that any cheaper?

Yeah, the beer pricing is strange. I don't mind paying for a good burger, but most any city has good burger places for better prices. A place here I can get a 1/3 pound burger with bacon and swiss and home made onion rings for $8.50, add a pint of Guinness and the total is $12.50, or for those that want you can get Hamm's or PBR for $3.00.

Looked it up on Google earth and it is the old Braum's.

I haven't been in a Fuddruckers since shortly before the one that was on 31st east of 169 closed.

I haven't been in one since the early nineties when I was living in Houston and they gave me the gift of food poisoning.

I'm gonna miss them.  Great burgers.  Rob would even make me a PBB burger if I asked.  We've also liked buying local art there.  My kids are going to be sad.

If $9 includes tip and tax, OK.

I don't care if no one does it cheaper.  That's more than I want to pay (subject to the conditions above).  I don't go out to eat often.  Too much salt and saturated fat in the food and I always feel like I have wasted my money.   Lucky for the restaurant business there are more people like you than like me.

I eat out pretty much all the time - a meal at home is always an event...and very strange!  You are spot on - salt and fat - and it is always a huge waste of money as far as I am concerned.

And there really is not very much difference in quality, and modest differences in taste, mostly based on the amount of salt added to the meat, between the boutique burgers (Smash, Five-Whatevers, Red-Robin, Fuddrucker's, etc) and the old stand bys - Goldies, Lot-A-Burger, Brownies, Bills, etc.  What is different is the "show" - the boutique burgers seem to be trying to come up with a gimmick like the themed peanut-shells-on-the-floor steakhouses have, but different.  It's a burger.  The thing that seems to make as much difference to me as any of the various salt combinations is whether the lettuce/pickle/tomato is on the top or the bottom.  IF, and it is a HUGE IF, the burger is cooked even close to right, the cheese should be on top, between the patty and the bun to keep the bun from getting soggy - that means a juicy burger when done right - and the other stuff on the bottom, so the juices can flow through and flavor them on the way, so you don't get unflavored salad taste.  And then, another piece of cheese under the salad stuff to keep those flowing juices from getting the bottom soggy.

What about un-melted cheese on that bottom piece of bread, one might ask - well, that goes to whether it is cooked right, once again.  The bun would be placed on the grill to toast while the beef is cooking, so it would be hot enough such that the cheese melts on that bottom piece of bread.

And if you don't want cheese, well then you shouldn't be eating a burger!  Shame on you!  Eat steak instead.

Oh, yeah...the buns should be either whole wheat, or pretzel bread.  NEVER Wonder White bread!!  Blech!

That MIGHT be worth that obnoxiously high $9, but I really think not.  Let me know if it is - may just have to open a steak and burger joint.  But without the gimmicks....

Keep in mind that a fountain drink goes for $2.50 these days, and fries are $1.50-$2.00, so you're over $4 before you even start on the entree.

One of the reasons I drink water.  Too much sugar or other chemical sweeteners is another.

Quoteand fries are $1.50-$2.00,
Way too salty.  I skip them

One "sandwich" I did like (before my doctor threatened me with cholesterol medicine) was the Italian Hoagie from Jay's Hoagies.  A 12" hoagie was under $9, including tax and it was more than enough for two people's lunch.  A single 6" hoagie was a bit more than 1/2 of that price.

Some places are more than happy to gouge you for $2.50.    It is a sad day when it is cheaper to get a bottle of beer than a glass of tea.
