Christiansen had loyal followers. They believed in him in part because he was the anti-establishment candidate. He ran as an outsider. I knew more than a few of his supporters who really worked hard because he represented exactly what they believed.
Power is nothing till you use it.

He told us he was simply at Bartlett's house waiting to see where his next public event would be, not to intimidate or stalk.

...because Bartlett's public events are so super-secret not even the public knows where they are?

Just look for fire coming from someone's pants.  You'll find him then...

Tactics like this make running for office very unattractive to good candidates.
Really a shame.

Like who?  Which candidates have been too above board for this tactic?

Personally I find the actions of that intern distasteful to say the least. This entire race has served to remind people more of how ruthless Taylor can seem more than to remind them what she can accomplish in office. I think these tactics will hurt her in the election, but I still see her eking out a win just because of who her opponent is.

I hope it's Taylor, Dewy is a scatter brain and has not a clue what he's doing. Our road construction is a serious mess, the trash system mess, the American Airlines boondoggle, and Dewys pro- tax  on everything. Dewy did not earn a 2nd term... I'm not a liberal I am  a "T" Party Sarah Palin type of  conservative and I'm mad. I hope with Taylor at least this city-wide road construction mess will clear up. :-X

What? You mean the whole tear them up all at the same time plan isn't a good one? ;)

This latest ploy to use a campaign worker to follow Bartlett was foolhardy. I question her wisdom. At some point, someone had to tell her this was a good idea. She is a businesswoman. Cost vs Benefits should rule her decisionmaking. To not have seen the overwhelming negative impact of this move should someone in a neighborhood watch program call the police gives me pause. It may be common in the business world, and legal too, but smells funny to the public.

At least its late in the campaign and likely not to be widely known.

Kid is Jack Hardwick, he used to be the Special Assistant to State Senator John Sparks.  His best friend is the field director for Tilley & Nichols, a Democratic Political Consulting firm out of OKC, and runs a non-profit called the Bennett Foundation which is basically a grass roots OFA campus outreach instrument at OU.

Wouldn't be surprised if Hardwick's actions were part of a larger strategy emanating from outside of Kathy Taylor's wheel-house. He wasn't living in Tulsa, meaning he was commuting to execute surveillance. You would think that if KT wanted someone to surveil Bartlett, she would choose either an experienced PI or a trusted local member of her staff who wouldn't be so out-of-place.

It was smart for KT to immediately take credit for this kids actions, because that presented a far better damage control scenario than exposing a possible invisible hand that could be tied to OFA or Tilley & Nichols.

This was timed.  Bartlett knew this kid had been watching him and his family for quite some time, and that leads me to believe that there are some other things that Bartlett may be sitting on.

You think Dewey was having a meeting with the Toronto Mayor?

Dear God, why did you have to take Chris Farley from us before he had an opportunity to play Mayor Ford?

TPD took his word for it, because he produced no ID or drivers license when they approached him:

They just checked the info he verbally gave them against a DL on file, and that was suffifient.
No talk of busting him for vagrancy, or who was driving the BMW he was in actual physical control of.

EDIT:  The police report also mentions the encounter was recorded on their dashcam, which is public record.

In order to be arrested for vagrancy he would have to exhibit a lack of "lawful purpose" for being parked there.  His "purpose" was lawful and well stated.  He was posted there to track and observe Dewey Bartlett.

Now, the ethics of such an action fall on the shoulders of the Kathy Taylor campaign, but she has already stated that she sees nothing unethical in posting surveillance through proxy at the private residences of those who oppose her.  Case closed!

It seems she exhibits far more cunning than Mayor Bartlett, and that may indeed deliver her the election.  It also seems that she has strong covert support that extends all the way to Washington.  I doubt Bartlett has such powerful friends.

Um, doesn't he run an oil company? Those normally have pretty powerful associates in state and federal government.

Bill Christiansen just endorsed Kathy Taylor.
