In the past I have plead no contest, and that gets you a court date. Then I apply for a court date extension (usually they give you 3 months). after that i show up to court, and if the officer who gave you your ticket does't show up, the ticket gets automatically dropped. Iv'e gotten out of four tickets this way.

In addition to their regular pay, they pocket overtime for going to court.  On the other hand, you loose pay for having to play.

Well, you sound like a fan of the guy that stuffed a Mustang into a 2nd floor apartment at Eton Square, and your hero's are the streetracers  in OKC that think street racing is a right.

You got a break on a ticket, and it sounds like you don't want to take responsibility for it. And before you preach to me, I got my first, and last drag racing ticket from TPD in 1980, at the cost of $200.00 (1980 dollars) and 6 points on my license. After that I grew up and took my racing to Hallett and Tulsa Int'l Drag Strip.

.....No, I sound like a guy that was driving on unfamiliar back roads that had a speed limit of 55, and then didn't realize I entered a BS 35MPH Speed Trap.  I thought I was going the speed limit, I doubled back and in fact realized I did somehow miss the new speed limit sign.   Your skills at reading between the lines are impeccable, you nailed me, hell I was in a giant company CNG Econoline van that I love to rip up the streets in.  Be careful next time you see a giant white van pull up next to you, I might just be me ready to rev my engine at you.  And I'm not arguing the ticket, I am just seeing if there are options as I am not fully familiar with all of them in Tulsa.  I lived in both Texas and North Carolina for many years and both had a defensive driving option if you hadn't received a ticket in so many years that would deffer the ticket and then drop it off your record.

And if he does show up. What size book do they throw at you?

The one time a cop did show up, I had the option of paying the original ticket amount, or do community service.

Wouldn't fight 19mph over, unless I knew I was not going nearly that fast.

I'm willing to bet you were going a clip faster. Had the cop written you a ticket for 20mph, he would have been required to arrest you and impound your vehicle.  He would have also been required to file a felony report in writing, and inventory and secure your vehicle. Cops haaaaaaate paperwork, especially when it has to submitted into evidence in a court.

If you were going 23 or even 25 miles over, and you hadn't caused any other accidents, or if no one else had complained or whitened your excessive speed, you should be thankful that the officer made this situation easier on you and himself.

$350 is way less than what you'll pay in insurance increases for the next 3 years over a 19 over. That said, I have been successful at negotiating these things myself in other states, but they were all places where speeding tickets were prosecuted by a prosecutor, not those weird states where they don't bother with petty things like court and adjudication of guilt for speeding tickets and other minor offenses. TBH, I have no idea how it works here in Oklahoma because the staties have so far always taken pity on me and written warnings.

Only one ticket in NH where I couldn't find an attorney willing to take the case for less than a grand did I actually pay a ticket, and only then because I was moving to Oklahoma and it was a 9 over and wouldn't affect my insurance here. In the other cases, the plea agreement was somewhere less than half the listed fine with no entry of guilt.

Best advice is to take the ticket to the DA/ADA office and talk to them about it. I have done this *cough* times and got them reduced in severity each time. You'll likely still have to pay the same $$$

Ever think about slowing down a little? You sound like a slow learner.  ;)

Only one ticket since 2006 or so, for 79 in a 75 out in AZ. Somebody was in a bad mood that day and decided to take it out on me. ;)

You know, I don't care if you were driving a Yugo, a semi pulling two 45 foot trailers or a Maserati. It sounds like you were not paying attention, you missed a speed limit change sign, and you are claiming that it's a

and you feel that you did not do anything wrong, it's a set up by the LEO's and it's not your fault, and you don't want to own up for it. Sorry if I pi$$ed in your Post Toasties with my reading between the lines, but when you claim speed trap set up, I have no sympathy.

Since 1990 I have had four tickets. '92 I got one from Arizona DPS for 77 in a 65, '97 73 in a 65 in New Mexico, '00 48 in a 35 photo radar in Phoenix, and '12 rolled a Stop Sign in Oregon. Other than the photo radar one, I just paid the fine and moved on. The photo radar one I went to a traffic school for 8 hours and it was taken off my record. Growing up in OK they don't have traffic school unless it's changed since 1998.

Thought that happened some time ago. Fortunately in 18 years of driving in OK, I never got caught in either of those in all the trips I made to DF/W and back.

Do you realize that that line right there undermines everything you've said?  I was just trying to see if there were any options or programs in place, you bashed on me for not just paying the fine and moving on, suggesting that I didn't want to take responsibility or that I did not feel responsible.

And then you drop that gem on us.... So what you didn't think the law applied to you??  Taking your advice why didn't you just "pay the fine and shut up"...  "it sounds like you don't want to take responsibility for it." Did you not "want to own up for it."

Clearly when you learned you had that option you should have done the right thing and said no thank you, I will take responsibility!
