This is kinda neat.

We all know that Oklahoma and Texas are "taker" states but never thought of it this way...  "It's not just that some states are getting way more in return for their federal tax dollars, but the disproportionate amount of federal aid that some states receive allows them to keep their own taxes artificially low. Well, at least we aren't as dependent on the Federal trough as Texas!

And Montana...that absolute bastion of "rugged individualist, independence and self reliance"....

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.

We hate the sinner (federal government) but love the sin (federal money).

Where we become a donor state is our steadfast refusal to pay teachers close to surrounding states levels, refusal to allow minimum wage for cities, failure to provide the attractions necessary to keep and attract well educated graduates, lack of mass transit, high number of unwed mothers, hostility to labor unions, gays, non Christians, immigrants, .....a legislature that is intent on embracing the most conservative, most moral legislation they can dream of.......then fighting in court to defend same legislation while overlooking infrastructure........ that continues to drain our state of needed human resources.

We're a lovely place to visit and the people are folksy as long as you follow our rules and our lifestyle.

And this takes us back to the previous poll, that unlike Illinois and CT, Oklahomans are not wanting to leave the state in droves. We like it here. And by the way, I do not have that much of a problem with newbies to this state conform to Oklahoma, not vice versa. That's what I did when I moved here.

Those blinders must be shrinking around your temples. The very polls you regularly denigrate as sophomoric and useless are now gold? They aren't leaving in droves, merely as they wise up. Droves are mindless masses. We're losing brains. Mostly they are refusing transfers here or looking elsewhere, thus never even arriving. Witness Tulsa's anemic population growth.

"Thats what I did when I moved here." Yeah, cause it fit your personality. However, not too many young professionals see Oklahoma as a good fit to their wants and needs.

As I pointed out and was ignored - if you look at the REASONS people moved to and want to move from those states, it is for jobs and family.  As Oklahoma does not attract a large number of in coming immigrants, there isn't a large number that want/need to leave.  When you have recruitment of large numbers of out-of-state persons IN to your state, those people are more transient and are more likely to leave.  See previous post...

It's actually a compliment to be ignored by a certain anti group around here. It means they have no valid response and no longer care to travel that path.

We are not ignoring you.

We realize your minds are made up and you don't want to be confused with facts.

I hadn't considered you as part of the anti group or the ignore group.

I posted deductions from facts. Cannon Fodder posted deduction from facts. On another thread I linked to historical facts and made no deductions. All ignored because they just don't fit with some other minds that have been made up. That is the new procedure for the politicization of fact. When it doesn't fit the construct you are pimping, simply ignore it and find other more inflammatory but inconsequential issues.

Nope. I still don't like polls. Don't tell us very much other than what the pollster is looking to prove. They are just fun to read, and sometimes they do make an unfortunate point to those that live by freakin polls.

I can agree with that.

States good to do business in.

http://chiefexecutive.net/best-worst-states-for-business-2014#ranking

Easy to see how that list came about - look for the lowest wages possible for the employees, while maintaining adequate availability of Country Clubs for the CEO....
