West Elm, an upscale retail store that features contemporary furniture designs and other housewares, plans to open a store in Utica Square this fall.

"We have signed a lease with West Elm, which is part of the Williams-Sonoma family, and are so excited for the addition to Utica Square," said Jessica Barr, Utica Square property manager, in an emailed statement.

West Elm is a wholly owned subsidiary of Williams-Sonoma Inc.

Looking forward to checking them out. Never been inside one. Possible that they'll going in Pier 1's space; Tulsa World reported last week that Pier 1 will close their Utica Square store. We have been to the one in Dallas.  It was cheaper for us to drive down and buy some dressers from the store there (with a stop at IKEA, as well) than to have them shipped to us.

That would be my guess.

This article is from 2007.  Didn't the Jenks river development project already occur without the major retailers?

Never happened at all.  3 or 4 years ago they said a scaled down version was going to happen.   The site did serve as staging for the turnpike widening project though.

I have a hard time getting too excited by a store that provides +/- Ikea quality at several times the price point of Ikea.

It's kind of a mod version of Bombay Company.  Bombay had great looking vinyl veneers over pressed oatmeal wood.
