OK I have to admit. I have never watched Stephen Colbert. Not a real big Comedy Central fan. But isn't he a Political satire kind of guy? Is that really what CBS wants as a Letterman replacement?

Been loving watching the right-wing hand wringing that's been going on since the announcement.

And how do you know that's the format he'll use at CBS?  Have they said so?  I'm sure Colbert will do good as a comedian.

I'm looking forward to it.

Townsend

That's a character he plays.

I moved the post to the right group.  ;D

I like Stephen Colbert, but he is in character all the time and I'm interested to see what CBS imagines in their head.

P.S. His book, "I am America and So Can You" is hilarious. Great parenting tips. I have it on Audiobook.

I had not heard this!  Very cool.  Colbert is a very smart dude and should be excellent at filling Letterman's spot.

Dolfan, does that mean you've never watched John Stewart either?  They are both TiVo'd at our house.  You should check them both out.  Very smart comedy.

I don't get what the hubbub is all about.  Letterman is about as liberal as they come.  I've always thought of Colbert much like Jay Leno when it comes to politics: anyone is fair game.

I have no problem with him. His shtick gets boring and tedious, but he is an actual comedy guy. Maybe this will create a space for Jon Oliver at Comedy Central.
Someone get Hoss a pacifier.

Jon Oliver just launched a show on HBO or one of those stations.

I knew that. I just thought that show was once a week. Oliver did a tremendous job covering for Jon Stewart.

I don't have a problem with Stewart or Colbert, I have a problem with people that have based their voting for any political office based on what either of them have to say, without looking at any other information about the candidates from any other sources.

I was hoping for Craig Ferguson, but Colbert moving from one Viacom network to another is not surprising. I think he will have to leave some of his Comedy Central character behind to fill the spot. Hopefully it won't be like Conan replacing Leno, and God forbid, the Leno Show in primetime.

I like Colbert, but it's an odd choice. No one has ever known him as a real person, just a fake persona. It reminds me of when Chevy Chase made a run at a show. Everyone just expected his character, and found the real guy boring.
