OKC is about to add 62 miles of bike lanes to existing streets, that is one thing they are passing us on:

You know it.

I hadn't been on the river trail south of 71st until recently and was pleasantly surprised to see the dual bike and jogging trails extended south to near the RiverSpirit hotel construction zone.  Once the Creeks update the trails past their project it will be much nicer from 71st to the Creek Turnpike trail.

Still hoping for an eventual connection between the Jenks bridge and Turkey Mountain on the west side.  That would complete the loop on both sides between the Jenks bridge and SW Blvd bridge for an ~18 mile round trip with no road crossings.  Few places have such a nice asset in city limits, certainly not OKC.

You need to go over there and look around at it.  Then if you think their 1 for every 10 of ours is "falling behind", then we'll talk.

I have read a lot about the OKC trail systems and how the city is expanding them, the only trail there I ever ran was the 9 mile loop at Lake Hefner and that was long ago back in the early 1990's. OKC has since connected that trail to others.

For some reason the new trail system at Riverside has no mileage markers  south of the 3.5 mile marker at around 46th street, As I run south  of the I-44 overpass bridge I don't see any more mile markers on the new trail pavement.

Mile markers are really unnecessary considering the trail starts at roughly 11th an every subsequent mile is 21st, 31st, 41st, 51st, 61st, 71st, 81st, 91st.

That does not work for me I run with a stop watch and like to see the markers on the pavement, why did they stop the markers at the 3.5 mile mark? I can't see the cross streets anyhow at places it's hard to tell what street is which. They need to put in the mile markers.

At 96th street is where they run the RiverSide 5,000 5K on August 16th. I'm training to run it. It's a flat, fast course and many runners can set a new PR in that race- no hills.

You need to spend a few bucks and get a GPS Runner's watch.

several years ago when I was doing a slew of 5Ks, my personal best was an Aquarium Run.
started heading east across the Jenks bridge, then north down riverside, then back, looping back under the bridge ending at the aquarium (so basically downhill @ the end)

The zigging and zagging adds up.  I believe its roughly 4 miles from 11th/SW Blvd to 41st street (it'd be 3 miles if it were straight south)

It might help if you actually lived here and knew the landmarks from ground level instead of from Google Earth.  I'm usually riding between 15 and 25 MPH depending on wind direction and traffic on the trails.  Miraculously, I have no trouble seeing my landmarks to indicate where I am so I call BS on not being able to see them as a runner at 4-10 MPH.

Unless you had the IQ of Forrest Gump...wait, what?

The "Run To The Son 5K" race on Labor Day at Parkview Baptist Church has a downhill grade into the finish line, the bad news is there is a uphill grade at the start of the race. This is another fun race to do after the event they hand out the awards and they have tons of food and games for the kids. I did this event for the past 3 years and I talked a lady friend of mine to run it this year. It's $30.00 advance tickets and $35.00 on race day.

That's a lot of money for those watches and I have a hard time setting my cheap $50.00 heart watch timer  thing all that computer junk is beyond me I'm happy with a simple stop watch & mile markers.
