Apparently CBS made a slip in their reporting that I'm sure they'll have to pay for.

On Monday when President Obama took a break from his vacation to return to Washington, none of the given reasons for his return made any sense since they were all meetings that could take place onsite at Martha's Vinyard.  It was reported that a big part of the reason for his return was to discuss foreign policy issues with Susan Rice, until it was discovered that she joined the meeting remotely, most likely from Martha's Vinyard were she was with the president the day before.

On Monday after making a brief public statement on the Ferguson issue, the president immediately left for a dinner at former White House Chef, and Obama golfing buddy Sam Kass.  The White House provided no additional details on the dinner, and the press didn't give it much attention until Twitter posters who lived in Kass's building tweeted pictures of the motorcade and secret service, and messages like "The president is in my building."  The White House then posted the event only as a closed 5 hour dinner at the house of Sam Kass on the president's official schedule.

Kass and the Obama family are close, having known each other from their days in Chicago. Kass's family lived in the same neighborhood as the Obamas, and his father taught Malia's fifth-grade class.

Now according to CBS it turns out, the dinner was actually a 5 hour bachelor party for Kass who is engaged to MSNBC news anchor Alex Wagner.

You know you've arrived when the president of the united states takes a break from his vacation, and flys himself and his detail back to Washington to throw you a bachelor party!  I wonder how much that cost tax payers?

So far there is no news on the entertainment provided or wether the president arrived with a wallet full of bills.

Nice soft ball story CBS cobbled together to defend the vacationer-in-chief.

Yeah.  I think it's actually funny that now that media outlets just accidentally mention news to break it, rather then reporting on it.

"Oops, did we mention the party?  Our mistake.  Won't happen again."

I also now think the Times's "Obama, Outraged Over Beheading, Vows to Stay on Course" headline after he returned to the golf course was very purposefully placed too.
