MOORE, Okla. (AP) — A man who had been fired from a food processing plant in an Oklahoma City suburb beheaded a woman with a knife and was attacking another worker when he was shot and wounded by a company official, police said Friday.

The 30-year-old man, who has not yet been charged, stabbed Colleen Hufford, 54, severing her head in Thursday's attack at Vaughan Foods, Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said.

"Yes, she was beheaded," Lewis told The Associated Press before a Friday news conference.

Lewis said the man then stabbed Traci Johnson, 43, a number of times before being shot by Mark Vaughan, a reserve sheriff's deputy and the company's chief operating officer.

While questioning the suspect's co-workers, investigators learned he had recently started trying to convert several employees to Islam, Lewis said. Moore police have asked the FBI to aid in the investigation and look into the man's background because of the nature of the attack, Lewis said.

No terrorism charge filed in this attack. DA says the state statute doesn't fit. Look for that statute to get reworked next session.

True for one of the victims.  Another person was also wounded by the attack and is doing well.  She will rejoin her family soon.  So, these people are caught somewhere between the two - their guy will be alive, but mostly unavailable.  Compared to one dead and completely unavailable.  And one recovered and completely available to family.

Don't lose track of how pro-death penalty I am, guido.  I want that guy fried!  Public beheading for him is almost enough!  Soon!   His family still has a loss that they most likely don't deserve.  And if "we" - meaning people who feel the same way I do - have our way, they are gonna have a bigger loss.

Funny that I am anti-death penalty. Used to support it when I was younger, but it would be hypocritical on life issues. What bothers me about the terrorist's family is the idea that there are "two sides" to the incident. What possibly could be the other side explaining beheading?

I suspect it is more a lack of skill with the language - "two sides" probably refers to all the coverage of the victims, but that family is kind of loosely "blamed" by association...  Blamed is probably not the right word - more of a dismissal or lack of recognition (?) of what they are going through during this, too.  

I know that I don't take the perp's family into consideration first - am always more concerned about the victim's family first....in many cases, the perp's family experience is similar stuff to the victim's though, without the sympathy factor.  Depends on that family, too....not always, but often, that family is the same as the perp - I have no idea or even a clue about these people.

Forgot death penalty comment...  no secret I am supporter.  The big issue I have now in this country is the arbitrary and capricious way it is administered.  Like when Texass goes ahead with an execution of a man who has been absolutely proven in the real world of scientific investigation (DNA) to have been NOT the person who committed the crime, but in "LegalFantasyWorld", cannot even get a hearing of the DNA evidence.

So, from a practical standpoint, I think we should stop all executions until we can get our collective sh$t together as a nation and 50 legal systems, and do it correctly.

Yet one more reason to not have a death penalty.  Aside from that, it's a costly and wasteful proposition, just like the war on drugs.  The cost of incarceration of a death row inmate (including unlimited appeals at taxpayer expense) is about 5-10 times that of a general population prisoner.  Let them rot and be sodomized for the rest of their miserable lives.
