State Lawmaker Calls For Interim Study On Outsourcing Contracts
07-01-2005 7:54 AM

(Oklahoma City, OK) -- A state lawmaker is worried that state government may be aiding identity theft. State Representative Al Lindley of Oklahoma City wants an interim legislative study into state agencies which are now outsourcing jobs. The Department of Human Services has outsourced food stamp processing to a company in India for several years. The outsourced tasks may include data processing work involving the private information of Oklahomans. Lindley is concerned that if any information supplied by state government is ever misused by the subcontractor, there will be serious fallout. He notes that prosecuting identity theft across national lines is extremely difficult.
