I have been to Phryme and Mahogony. I have been to Outback and Jamil's. I have been to the Spudder and Logan's.
My favorite steak has been from Polo Grill...until last night.

We went to Eddy's. I haven't been there for ten plus years. The place is a dive. Carpet was ripped. Front door needed painting. Don't even go to the bathroom.

But the steak was unbelievable. We tried t-bone, rib eyes, and filets. All were perfect. All were yummy. The steaks were very very large. My son's t-bone was probably 28 ounces.

Dinner for five was $120 before tip.

Mike. I have always heard. If they can't keep the glass on the door entrance or the bathroom clean. Whats the kitchen going to look like?

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to steak so if I want one, I cook it. Just never 100% satisfied with what I get when I go somewhere and order one.

I will say I was disappointed the one time the wife and I went to Phryme. Her steak was a flavorless slab of failure and mine had not been trimmed well and was far too fatty.

We have driven past Eddie's to eat at other places hundreds of times.  The place was a dump 25 years ago.  I've often wondered how they stay in business, as if it's a front for a card game or something else.  With your review, we might have to give it a try, but like Ibanez says, we rarely ever go out for steak when what we do at home is outstanding.

Looks horrible.  Like most restaurants.  Don't look.  You don't wanna know.

Eddy's is one of those "train wreck" places - like visual events you can't stop watching....you kinda suspect something terrible is gonna happen, but it tastes so good you can't help yourself!  (Bill's Hamburgers is not the prettiest place in the world....but who cares!!??....it tastes so good!)

Long, long, ago there was a place called Silver Dollar Steakhouse on highway 99 a few miles north of Pawhuska.  Not the follow on places like in Collinsville....  The place was an abandoned building that had seats made from nailed together 2 X 4's - and if you weren't careful, sometimes the nails worked out a little and could snag you.  It was a wreck to look at, but someone I know had a moment of insanity and had eaten there.  It was amazing!!  We went for many years.  None of the "franchises" were even close.

And they had cinnamon rolls that were exceptional.  Cost a buck and a half.  Were bigger than most cakes - 1 foot in diameter, about 4" thick!  And not just a glob of bread - the flavor was evenly spread throughout.

Good stuff can come in very ugly packages!  Like me!!   Beat you all to it....

How the heck do these places pass Health code? When the best Pizza place on South Lewis couldn't even open on time.  ;)

I've been. The steak is good...everything else is terrible. I'm really worried that uneaten food (cabbage rolls, bread, butter) gets re-served to the next set of diners. I can't make myself go back.

I didn't think that. The cabbage rolls were good, but not as good as Freddy's or Jamil's. The tabouli was interesting and included green pepper. My daughter loved the hummus dip with carrots and celery.

The place isn't busy. No advertising and an old building will do that.

I understand if you don't trust a place that doesn't polish up well. I wouldn't eat in that place if it just served burgers or breakfast. But the steaks were impressive. They will bring me back.

Tried to take the wife to Bill's Hamburgers last week.  They were closed at 12:45.  Did they shut down?

I haven't been in a long, long time....tough to get to that part of town during that part of the day.  Hope not.

We went there late last year. Everything was really good, and such generous portions we had leftovers. It IS a dive, but so was Avalon. Now they had good steaks! They never should have left the dive and opened the new place. It killed them. Maybe Eddy's would suffer the same fate if they cleaned up the place or moved.

Is Go West still open?  We drove past around 4 or so last Saturday and I expected more cars in the parking lot if they were getting ready for Saturday dinner service, there was one in the lot.

I ate there a couple of months ago, it was really good but they weren't very busy. It's a tough location.

Not much of a steaks guy, especially since that is something that can be done at home, but I actually prefer Mahogany or Silver Flame. Same concept as Eddys.
