I thought I'd make a topic about all the "interesting" things this man says.

Has anyone seen this article? http://www.tulsaworld.com/business/tulsa-in-envisioning-the-city-s-future/article_17da74b6-fd35-5d34-b084-891a9e8a921e.html

Dewey Bartlett, the current mayor of Tulsa, said he believes the city will expand significantly by 2025.
"When I look ahead, I see a city that's extremely vibrant," he said. "We will grow. We might even consolidate with another city."

WHAT ON EARTH? Consolidate with another city? Does he really think Tulsa will annex/consolidate with any of the suburbs? What is this man smoking.

Another possibility is that new transportation options will help develop a "satellite city" near Tulsa, Bartlett said.
"One thing that could happen is that we could see a commuter train link portions of Tulsa and Grand Lake. Right now, Grand Lake is mainly a retirement community, but with a train you could see a lot of people living there and riding in to work every day," he said. "It's extremely doable."

So he wants to develop a satalitte city through alternative infrastructure... but he won't allow the Peoria Avenue BRT line to be built? Brilliant. Let's help fund development AWAY from Tulsa when we could build infrastructure that will help create mixed-use development and increased taxes IN the city of Tulsa.

"I think we're becoming the next Austin," he said.

Please stop saying this!!! Has he not listened to any of the feedback people have given in these branding sessions we've spent so much on? I think the clear thing people have said is we do not want to be the next Austin or the next Portland. We want to be the next Tulsa.

Austin has the worst traffic I have ever experienced outside of Southeast Asia. Yes, let's become just like them! Build more highways!! And commuter rail to Grand Lake.

I read the "commuter rail to Grand Lake" thing and, well, major face palm.

Who does he talk to?  Where does the get these ideas?

Commuter rail to Grand Lake, w t f?  And by 2025?  How about a streetcar instead so we can build up TULSA instead of a "satellite city".  How did this guy get re elected?

Same way Sally Kern got re-elected.  Abject stupidity?

The plan is to merge Tulsa, OKC, and Kansas City into one grand city that can then compete with Dallas and New York as major metro area.  I could see living in what is now Humboldt, KS....that would only be about a 3 hour commute - one way - just like LA, but with better "quality of life"....

Big town features...small town feel.

We could call it Trantor....just to get the ball rolling...

I don't share my thoughts because I think it will change the minds of people who think differently.  I share my thoughts to show the people who already think like me that they are not alone.
