The echo is from the concrete benches. They're leaving these in place. Not tocuhcing them, not putting anything between them and the center of the circle. Intuitively, it should not change the echo if you don't put anything between you and the echo. Empirically, sound engineers said it will work.

I don't know what else to tell you. It is falling apart. They have to fix it. The plan is sound. (Hehe)

With proper acoustic modeling it shouldn't be an issue. That being said, it would need proper maintenance of any landscaping that might absorb sound.

Back in the late 80's I was going to school at Spartan. There was the guy from Philadelphia that was about 20 and just as gullible as could be. He was asking about City Of Faith and I told him that if you go out there at sunrise you can watch the praying hands open.

He came to class Monday seriously asking "I waited for an hour and they didn't open. Is there something wrong with them?"

Same. It's like it sounds a little funky, but I can't really explain it, and it certainly wasn't what is always described in articles. Always felt more like an urban legend based on my experiences.

I had to look it up because I couldn't remember when this came a thing. It was after the bridge was repaired from a fire that it became "center of the universe" as the point between North Tulsa and South Tulsa, and then the cloud was around the time they moved Mayfest to that area.

Empirically, introducing an absorptive or reflective surface, like the "Signature Shade Structure" could have the effect of unbalancing the noise-canceling phenomena.  Think common-mode cancellation where a signal of equal amplitude but opposite phase is used to flatten a waveform, and then change one of the parameters and it breaks down.  Im really hoping a sound engineer took that into account, because the bridge does need repair and doing nothing could b just as bad if not worse.

Im not concerned about the needed repair, its the addition of cosmetic frills that worries me.

Drove by the BOK Center and saw that the old Sheriff's Building had the facade removed revealing the original brick structure. I googled and found that the Sheriff's Office moved out a few months ago to a new facility up north. Also found this article about the building getting a "facelift" but says nothing specific and doesn't even acknowledge that the sheriff was moving out. I hope it means the building will be repurposed and not made into another surface lot.

The Faulkner Building, which houses the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office at 303 W. First St., is getting a facelift. Aging stucco is being removed, revealing brick underneath, to ensure the safety of any pedestrians near the building.

Parts of the building have stood since the early 1900s, but just when the stucco facade was added is unclear. The county bought it for $500,000 from Public Service Company of Oklahoma in 1999, according to the Tulsa World's archives. It was named for Tulsa County's longest-serving sheriff at that time, Dave Faulkner, who served 11 terms.

I wouldn't think they would go to the trouble of removing the stucco to tear it down.  Love seeing the old brick exposed.  The same facade is underneath the New Midtown Adult Superstore..

Shady Keys is moving back to their old spot behind Hurts Donuts, which of course is now gone and being replaced by Shady's side business bar - Lounge 88. Hate that name.

It's interesting that they moved to their current location just a year ago and are now moving back. It can't have been cheap to renovate their current building to what it is now. It sounds like the lack of foot traffic really hurt them. Crazy the difference that one street makes, but I guess a lot of people don't want to hang out by the adult superstore, lol.

Anyone know the status of the new 36 degrees north building across from Atlas School? Seems like it has stalled in construction. Couldn't tell going past it if it was being actively worked on or not. Looks like a lot of graffiti on the outside though...
