Number 38 on the list of poverty level States. I would tend to agree with the listing of our State. No mystery about the worse State being Mississippi.

It's based on median household income. We have a better poverty rate and unemployment rate than many sates that ranked better than us.

The cost of living is lower in Oklahoma which means that our household income will never match a place like Massachusetts

Great list from a paper that ran the headline

QuoteAbortion hope after 'gay genes' finding

suggesting that with the discovery of the "gay gene" mothers have the option to abort the child based on this.

That's true. A friend of mine was employed by a company based in Boston and his pay scale was the same as if he was living there. He was living La Vida Loca here in T-Town.

True! We will never have the income success of "non-business-friendly" states. Also true that we have lower unemployment than many states. But, sadly, our actual poverty rate is HIGHER than the chart suggests. We are somewhere between number 10 and number 6 in "number of citizens living in poverty." (depending on the stat you are looking at)

Again, more people working than most states. Still poorer than most states. But hey, our businesses make lots of money. So that's good!
