They found a local to "own" the attached liquor store until the laws change.

I see. And TJ's can't do the same thing?

You would have to ask them. Do they do stand alone liquor stores in other states?

I know that they have stand alone stores (well they are next door and share a wall, but you have to leave one store to get to the other) in Massachusetts, New York, and Colorado. And probably Minnesota as well.

Oh, and New Jersey!

Maybe they have been given promises that the law will be changed soon?

That was my guess.  They realized they'd get the business they needed without liquor sales long enough to wait for the law change.

I sent an email this week to that Trader Joe's chastising them for not putting a door on the sidewalk and encouraging them to fix that. I'm sure it's way too late. But I'm that guy now.

I totally agree on this. I wish they had an entrance there but at the same time at least the other shops all do.

someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I have not seen anything proposed this legislative session that would change the single ownership law.   If Trader Joe's was Didn't plan to open in okc this wouldn't be a problem but hopefully they will just be what Costco did.

There are proposals to allow grocery stores to sell strong beer and wine. Trader Joes is known for selling wine.

Memory failing me, but wasn't there a stipulation that you have to go through a distributor, and the distributor has to make it available to everyone in the state? Hard to keep track of all the subrules in this stuff

I know they have the trader joe's branded wine, could put a kink in things

I've been wondering about that as well. Costco has house brand liquor too. Can they sign a deal with distributor to only allow themselves to sell their house brands? How can that work?

Speaking of that, does anyone here have any knowledge about the 'beverage distribution center' that is evidently being built just SE of the Super WM on Admiral and Memorial on this tract?  I see where a PUD was done on this back in late 2014, but I cannot tell who this is going to be.
