The presidential election was a train wreck.

The Whirled, however, managed to find a tidbit from our local election that gives one pause to reflect on something good and precious:

As long as Dave won't act like the rest of the fundies trying to create the Christian Caliphate of Oklahoma down in the Legislature we might be alright.  These days, I'm highly suspect of any of the GOP legislators in OKC for very good reason.

We have a brand new Representative in House District 74, one Dr. Dale Derby, without a shred of experience in elected office, but he does have that all important (R) after his name. His son is the incumbent. Everyone expected he'd file to run again, but minutes before the deadline, his father filed instead, thereby seeing he wouldn't face primary opposition.

They've almost made the position hereditary.

"D" next to his name in the reddest state of all.  It's quite simple.

Dave Rader also had the name recognition from his years as TU's head coach.  Tough opponent.

Even with straight ticket voting it surprises me.
