A Tulsa-based grocery store chain is asking a federal judge to declare that the state cannot collect sales tax from its Okmulgee grocery store because it is situated on restricted Indian land.

Would be a consequential ruling that would significantly impact state businesses and the state budget.

If the state can't collect sales tax, wouldn't this also affect gas tax, tax and license plate fees? What about property taxes, and if you work for the store on restricted land, can the state collect the payroll tax?

Just curious.
