I would stay closer, especially if you dont have a tripod that way if you have to zoom in your not going to get a lot of blur. Plus I dont know what kind of exposure timing it will take to get fireworks.  Perhaps if you can position yourself so you are across the river facing downtown and get the fireworks over downtown, that would be kewl.

I ended up finding the absolute best place from which to take pictures.  It was about 150 yards south of the 21st St. bridge, where they shot everything from, and I had a wonderfully positioned downtown behind it (and I brought my tripod this time!).  I ended up taking 342 pictures tonight, bringing my two-day total to 710.

Here are some of my favorites from tonight:

Wow those are, great Scott!  Some of the best fireworks photos I have seen.  Nice to see the variety of colors too.

Thanks, Artist!  I've posted all my photos from my excursions on my flickr.  I covered downtown including the arena, Riverview, Sunset Terrace, Maple Ridge, some Swan Lake, TU and the fireworks show yesterday.

Check 'em out! http://www.flickr.com/photos/dscott28604

I wonder if we could have a new message board dedicated to photos? It'd be a lot easier to go through all the photos if they had their own topics, instead of having them all in a single thread with 100+ replies....

Lots of great photos Scott. Really like the ones of the homes. I did see one that you took of downtown past TU and though, hmmmm.  Hope you don't mind what I did with it.[:)]

I don't mind at all!  Now that I've got all the pics up, I've been playing with them today, too.  I'll have some of those up soon, too :-)

Looove the new photos. Think your leaving it wide open for people to make fun of our podunk image though with that "Free Spam!" pic.  Might want to reconsider that one. We need to improve our image not give people easy ammo to shoot it down lol.

Thanks, Artist... I took the Spam pic to try to get some idea of the crowds at DFest, but ufortunately, Spam decided to set up shop.... Ugh.  At least we're not Hawaii--those people are absolutely crazy about Spam! [:P]

Here is one of several pics I took of the PGA on Tuesday...

I love streakers. I had a bunch of them from the 31st street bridge but I can't seem to find them. Here are a couple.

That abandoned building is Temple Israel synagogue.  I've heard rumor that the foundation is too badly damaged to save.

Even if that's false, the years of neglect and squatters have probably demolished the interior.  A pity, a very cool building.

That's a bit disheartening, indeed.  I wouldn't think that Temple Israel would allow anything to turn into that kind of dilapidated mess.  I guess they're too busy keeping their fashionable Utica Square address looking good... Are they still the owners?

They moved the Temple in the 50's long before Utica Square was fashionable. The Cheyene Temple has had several owners over the years.
Temple Israel is a work of art. Utica Square is not even close...
