We just spent nearly a week in OK and absolutely love it there. Tulsa is a beautiful, clean city and has a lot to offer. We saw Boston Ave. Church and it was pretty awesome. ORU is also nice. The zoo is so-so, but we realize it's sort of the off season. The Aquarium is VERY nice. My husband loved the Gilcrease Museum. It is very nice. I especially liked the flowers at Woodward Park. Beautiful! ORU is nice and on our way there, we saw the coolest building. It's a large building and has a mirror on the side and you can see the cars in the parking lot through the mirror. Driving around town, we also saw the cutest church and took a pic of it. The front of it looks like a cottage and has pretty pics or print on it. The streets are laid out nice and after our major confusion when we got there, we ended up finding our way around quite easily thanks to a gal in the motel who gave us a map and helped us find the things on it. (We weren't able to find a good, detailed map of just Tulsa) The people are very friendly and helpful and are courteous drivers. I guess it's something we all need to keep in mind when we encounter someone who isn't from our state. Travelers get a perception of the area by how we act toward them. (I need to make a note of that for myself) One gent even pushed the door of a restaurant open for me and made a special effort to open the next one, too. I don't even see that kind of courtesy in the South.[:P]I know that some of you are interested in promoting Tulsa, and the only suggestion I have is to be sure that the motels and other places that have the racks of travel brochures are stocked with things about OK. We couldn't find anything about Woodward Park, Philbrook, or any nearby towns, etc. A lot of the brochures were about Dallas/Fort Worth, etc.[:(] Just an observation from a newbie there and please don't take offense at that. It's meant to be helpful.[:)] We didn't get a chance to see Philbrook, but are going to do that on our next trip down there. We learned that OK is definitely for us and it was hard to come back home.[:(]We also learned that we're more comfy in small towns so we went out searching for the "right place". We went through a lot of towns like Muskogee, Salisaw, of course Checotah, and many others. We went down to Poteau and the scenery is very nice there. We then drove up the eastern edge of the state. (I think it was I-59)The scenery was so pretty. I'm still in search of the right spot, but my husband seems to be sold on Grove. What a nice place!! Even though we won't move for a bit over a year, we went as far as to look through real estate listings and inquire about jobs in the area. The only other possibility would be the Davis area. We've seen pics of the Arbuckles and it also looks like it's some place we'd like to be. Have any of you ever been down that way and if so, I'd appreciate any info you have about it.[:)] It was just so nice to finally see OK and it's all that we expected.[}:)]
