Democrat Askins Widens Lead Against Republican Hiett For OK Lt. Governor Spot: In an election for Lieutenant Governor in Oklahoma today, 10/24/06, Democrat Jari Askins defeats Republican Tom Hiett 52% to 42%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KFOR-TV Oklahoma City. Since an identical SurveyUSA poll released 9/26/06, Askins has gained 2 points, Hiett has lost 1 point. Among women, Askins has gone from a 13-point lead 1 month ago to a 25-point lead today. Among men, Askins has gone from a 1-point lead 1 month ago to a 5-point deficit today, a 30-point "gender gap."

Henry beats Istook 64% to 32% in the same poll

It's not like anyone didn't see this coming.  Henry is popular with everyone except the far extreme right and party line GOP.  I'll be willing to bet that one third to one half the Republican vote goes to Henry.  Istook is irrelevant and out of touch with state-level issues.

Istook was whining yesterday on Joe Kelley's show on KRMG because "Govewnow Henwy won't debate me in Tulsa....whimper, waaaaa!"[:(]

It's no secret I think Hiett is a conniving weasel.

Life is good, the business I work for is booming, I don't really see a need for change and I don't see a need for the kind of obstructionist stuff Hiett would try to pull on Gov. Henry.

I'm glad you think everyone in Oklahoma is doing so good.
In an Oct. 16 poll (http://tvpoll.com/documents/News9_StatewideIssues_101606.pdf)
Compared to this time last year, is your famlies financial situation better, worse, or about the same?
Better          301   23.9%
Worse           299   23.8%
About the same  629   52.3%

Sorry, but I don't call this growth. You have to realize that these numbers are during an oil boom .... imagine what they would be if we were not in an oil boom.

I have to assume you have not seen the debates.
http://www.koco.com/video/index.html  Watch the debate --- it is split up into several segments. If they are on the resent videos section, just do a search for 'istook henry debate.' Honestly I don't think you could say Istook is out of touch after you watch the debate.

Oh, yes, I can. I definitely got the impression of a guy who's been in Washington for a long, long time. [V]

Then you should change your name to Bears, instead of a team that's 98 years since its last World Series title. [}:)]

Where's crackpot?  None of us have been verbally accosted today...must be a depressive day after the manic episode we saw yesterday.  I think either he wore himself out and needed a nap or he's back on his meds.

But when the Cubs win, it will be all the sweeter.
Real fans stick with a team in the tough times. The Cubs are fortunate to have one of the largest fan bases despite the fact that they haven't won in 98 years.

Despite the fact that at least two generations of Cubs fans have died, waiting.

Slightly better than last year but nowhere near as good as it was about six years ago.

Well good because Bush has been President less than six years .... so you can't blame him.
